I currently have a big bottle of 10% barrel aged stout I was given in 2022 in the frigde.

... but this is the 3rd time I've done so. I am waiting for that picture of the corner flag.

I actually shuddered at the thought of such a fine stout being in the fridge!

The ideal temperature would be in between room temperature and fridge temperature (a cellar would be cooler than room temperature) so I would hope he’d remove it several hours before attempting to drink it.

The concept of serving food / drink at 'room temperature' originated long before Central Heating was invented. Therefore, rooms were considerably cold then than they are now and although 'straight from the fridge' would be to cold, todays room temperature would probably mean it was too warm.

What a dilemma!!!
