SMS Bailey, Clarke and Francis on the list

Well we have budgets we have to work in, the players are still in the same league and I dont see why they should expect substantial increases in contracts, yes maybe if we had gone up then they could argue "we are worth this"

Sadly it doesnt do anything to dispell the public myth footballers are greedy bee-stards

In my opinion thats our 3 best players from last season. Gutted.

mine too. i was resigned to losing maybe two of our best players.. but with all 3 going, and uncertainty over Gower, Flavs, Macca... no left back....

i just feel a bit

Fantastic point. They didn't achieve anything last year in the grand scheme of things, same as us and so don't deserve the bonus of players that won the league

Maybe RM sees it as a little bit of posturing. Every chance that one or two of the players might backtrack on their wage demands having been shocked at being treated so ruthlessly.

Based on Gower going this is our first team :(
1. Flahavan
2.
3.
4. McCormack
5. Barrett
6.
7.
8.
9. Barnard
10. Walker
11.

Oh my god. :'(

What the F$%^ is going on? 3 of our best players, it makes you fear for our future.

but...

on the other hand Well Done Ron, standing up to this is a great thing to do but at what cost? :stunned:

Maybe he's calling their bluff. They're all still got a while to run, maybe this will make them stop and think. If not **** Em. If you don't want to play for us then sod off.

dont really know what to say, but one question,

they have rejected revised contracts, however surely their old contracts still stand, Bailey has two years left so why transfer list him, why not keep him on the lower contract for next year atleast? or we taking it that these players want out of the club?

This is worrying!!! Its a good job our youth team done well last year at this rate they will be our first & only 11 next season.

Stunned.
From the Final home game we are left with (in contract and not on the list)
Barratt, McCormack (but he has already rejected one extension) Barney and Walker
I hope this is just a ploy to try and call their bluff a bit but I reckon those three will be gone by July (combined fee 1M ?)

perhaps Baileys new contract specified that he had to turn up for Play-off games?!

Fair play to Ron Martin.

We've invested alot of money in these players and we don't want them leaving for free at the end of their contracts.

As the prospectus showed, we're very skint - and I'd rather we recouped some cash than risk letting them leave for nothing or bankrupt the club with our wage bill.

The danger now though is that we have no bargaining power in fee negotiations with clubs coming in for these 3.

After initial shock, in a strange way I'm pleased with this news. I'm happy that Ron is safeguarding this club's future - and none of these players are bigger than Southend United FC.

I'm completely shocked!!!

Regretably we have to admit Ron has made the right decision...

Who knows, maybe one or two of them might now **** themselves and sign the deal but it sounds like we will be looking for some pretty expensive replacements...

Tilly... get Maher and Hunt back before its too late!!!

Servants like these clearly don't come around very often.

This is unbelievable!! With a number of players (Admittedly deadwood) already either gone or on the list...and players such as Gower and Flavs looking like they could be going as well, i can't believe these 3 have been listed as well.

Lets not forget we did actually have a pretty good season last year, these are good players that could/will be leaving the club, they will be hard to replace.
