It was a poor performance yesterday, great support once again, its still not all over so just like the marathon today we have just one more mile to get over the line and with the best result.
I just think of our league position a few months ago compared to todays......and I know which one I preferred

yes it was a long journey for no points and no goals but that is football at any level of the game

keep the faith and lets hope we can all be happy next Sunday afternoon

Thing is, it's out of our hands. We could tonk Bury 15-0 and still not go into the playoffs.

For sure , and that is the frustration that we could and should have been out of sight, and I'm sure the Millwall fans would be thinking the same when the scores on the doors were against them as well........but both teams have been poor over the last few games.

We had the luxury of a short coach hop to and from the ground. Provided by one of the local Shrewsbury pubs in town. The Shrewsbury fans were saying why can't we (Shrews) play that well every week. What you don't see on highlights are several great blocks by their defenders when we were shooting, which of course don't count as shots on target.

As for our performance there has been the usual over reaction with comments like 'we bottled it'. It was only ever going to be a scrappy game because of both teams circumstances. Yes we should have done better going forward but I did say before the game that the result would depend on Cox and Ranger and without Woody their task is always that bit harder. Fair play to there number 22 he was up for it and one his big battle with Ranger. People were slagging Nile but he played better than he did at either Chesterfield or MK.

We never looked good in front of goal v MK Dons and that continued yesterday. But don't see the need to slag the defence as conceding one goal is not the end of he world. We now have some standard targets like Demi to pick out, the latest cliché is he can't defend. Did no one see his vital clearance at the back post early on.

MOM for me was Walton. Didn't have to make any spectacular saves but had to cling on to a few fired in low shots which could have easily been spilled. Shame some of you have blamed him for their goal because it certainly was not down to him. What it does prove though is if you swing a corner in at pace and the defenders don't deal with it always causes problems.

Disappointing result for Ron and his freebie army but makes it nice and exciting right up until our last game v Bury and we would have all taken that back in conker season.

Edit: forgot to say the quiet Shrewsbury lad sitting next to me on the coach back to the pub only said one line on the journey. "You wouldn't do very well in the Championship anyway".......I can't argue with that.

It was also sad to some of the crowd getting at each other yesterday and tempers boiling over.....yes its frustrating but we need to keep our cool with our own supporters

If that was the case then maybe both White and Ferdinand shouldn't have started? Playing unfit players has cost a
us recently though I'm not sure if our fully fit back up players would have been any better? If I'm right then PB hasn't build an adequate squad to cover any defensive injuries. The only defender injured is Inniss and yet we suddenly look woefully unequipped .
and PB got rid of Barrett!

I was there and it was dire, nothing unlucky just plain poor.

Without exaggeration, we did not string 3 passes together in the first half, full backs were very poor, Thompson and Ferdinand either were told or decided to knock everything up in the air.

Timlin had his worst game I've ever seen from him, Cox and Ranger had no service whatsoever and Leonard, Atkinson and Macca were fringe players.

Slightly better second half but never threatened. Stats say we had 5 shots on target but if they were shots they were all powderpuff.

Huge away support seems to put us off???

This certainly seems true, we've underperformed badly against Gillingham and Charlton as well as yesterday. We also lost to Millwall but I'd argue on that occasion we were perhaps unlucky.

Large home crowds haven't really helped either recently thinking about the last two games at Roots Hall. It makes me wonder about the team's ability to perform when under more pressure to win. Perhaps we should all stop going, the team might perform better in front of three men and a dog!

Some of them might well be doing so soon!

Our first 7 games and the last 5 games only gave us 8 points in total.....terrible stats but somehow we are still in the mix.

Not really - because the run of something like 4 defeats in 30 games was pretty decent ..

Unless you win all games or lose all games , your season will be determined the majority of the results and which generate a total points by the end of season, so, if we do make the plays off, we, over the season would have deserved to have made the play offs. If we don't, we don't . Leagues have as long as I remember worked on this basis.

I wasn't there !

Those ratings are either brutal or accurate...if accurate then those guys need to look in the mirror.

I was there!

Those ratings are from a half Welsh sheep shagging inbred, who fancies his sister. Anyone who takes notice needs to look in the mirror and over their shoulder.

The 12 games I mentioned....if we had collected an extra 4 points making it 12 points from 12 games which is still relegation form....we would be guaranteed the last PO position.

Can you pick another thread to hi-jack as this one is for match reports.

But and I know you love a fact ... the FACT is , and this may hurt , our total points so far this season means that we aren't fighting for relegation, we are fighting for a play off spot. You stats here are stupid ... you've picked something to back up your negativity , whereas what I've come side red is that we are only 1 game from maybe getting in the play offs , at the top of the league ..., not , again for clarity, at the bottom of the league.

I merely pointed out that we had a dreadful start and a dismal run in,yet we are still in the mix!

Now if you see anything else into the stats I provided, that's up to you.

Easy everyone.

Ultimately after todays matches nothing has changed. Even if we had won we would only be 2 points a head of Millwall. We would still have needed Millwall to do us a favour.

Wrong. If we'd won yesterday we'd have needed just 1pt against Bury to secure a play-off place. We wouldn't have needed a favour from Millwall at all.

2nd attempt - post pub....little creative stuff going on, and, having thought about it, thanks earlier posters....just HOW many times did WE have 2 guys competing for the same ball today

In PB we trust :Worthy:,
I think we would've all accepted 7th / 8th place at the start of the season....my to tip for what it's worth....2 days off for the whole squad, employ masseurs abundant, and motivational / "kick arse" people to get the team ( and hopefully us), all set up for next weekend.......

As it's now "the day of the lord" ....I'm off to church to request he (and any other god you believe in), delivers as prayed for............................

If the players need "motivational people" to get up for a game that is last chance saloon if they want Championship football then God help us....

I can't believe we've messed up again. No idea what the tactics were but no invention anyway. Really missed Coker and Wordsworth for width and creativity. Two basic football errors 1. Timlin, get tight on your man when defending a corner. 2. Demetriou, never take your eye off the ball............
