Will you renew

But who are you watching?..have you ever felt so distanced from the club in your life? has any of this been caused by the fanbase?

I certainly feel far more distanced from elements of the fanbase than I can remember. I simply cannot relate to those who wish us to lose games to vindicate their own beliefs.

I've actually taken to the vast majority of this playing squad and manager.

I will be renewing because I am a fan. That said, I hope that all the Season Card revenue doesn't go to a factoring company, like last year:unsure:

* Season Card Direct Debits are collected by Zebra Finance who acts for 58 Football Clubs. Interest is charged at a rate of 9%* and yes they are factors.

Maybe a lot of the older fanbase have different values than the youth of today...Most it seems just jump on the latest fad these days and call it the new regime and maybe future success..Some of us old one's remember the days of loyalties and honest business practice....these unfortunately seem light years away from modern dealings in whatever market you are in..

like anton johnson? or uncle vic? or the rubins? lets face it when you think robert maxwell and ken bates are our saviours we have really been swimming with the sharks!!!

Then what has it got to do with my point?
..

Probably nothing, but lets face it whatever I or most said you would want to reply with some smart arse opposite.

You seem to constantly belittle and undermine anybody who has a directly opposite opinion from you.

Say's the man who was completely on Ron's side at one time and was quite dismissive of anyone who wasn't a Ron follower. Right or wrong at least ESB has been consistently of the same opinion.

Pot. Kettle. Black. As evidenced by that very post...

You questioned that people feel distanced from the club at the moment, I replied that I feel the opposite in terms of the squad and manager as I think they're doing a good job, but I do feel disassociated with elements of the support because of their attitudes. You responded to that by bringing "the youth of today" into question which had very little to do with my point. Given the fact you've a history of using my age against me in arguments, It's pretty obvious what you were implying.

So my issue with the price is that in L2 it almost impossible to sell on my ticket for the odd games I can't attend.. At least in the CC if I couldn't make a game I would have a line of people willing to give £20 to take my place.. This just male it even worse value.. That I'll prob still renew - it's my club!

For sure I was sucked in 100% and I can look back in anger at my stupidity and only apologise for being sucked in..

I'm undecided at the moment. In all likelihood, I probably will renew just for ease. I will have missed 7 games this season, however a few of these have been sods law that other things such as weddings have been scheduled for a home game, not an away game. On that basis I think that is the max i will miss and if i buy a season ticket it works that I can miss 5 games before it would have been cheaper to buy on the gate.

However the benefits of having a season ticket outweighs the cost. Not having to fanny around with the ticket office/having own seat guaranteed every game etc...

FWIW - I can relate to this set of players and manager just as easy as any other squad/manager we've had down the years. Yes the off-the-pitch shenanigans can be weary but that won't stop me getting out of the house at the weekend and watching us play.

You're definitely not alone in that opinion!

Regards to the increase, I was expecting it, and as much as I dislike it I'll renew. I despise Ron, I have done for years and long before it became fashionable. He's taken a lot away from me through his mismanagement of the club. However, he absolutely will not take away from me, the ability to spend a Saturday with my friends and family watching the club that I grew up with and love. It's my club, and in my blood, and nothing he can do will drive me away. Why should I miss out on what I enjoy because he is a grade A ****tard!

What does surprise me though, is after months of fans taking the moral high ground over lack of investment for a final drive into the play offs; most are acting like the world has ended because they are asked to invest c5/6 pounds extra a month to help the club bridge it's financial gap - it's almost like some have received the excuse they were looking for not to renew.

I'd only say, when making your decision on whether to renew, try and take Ron out of the equation. If you can afford it, and you want to see your team play through the convenience of a ST, don't let that **** take that away from you as well as everything else. Easier said than done I know.

I was talking about these guys the other month with the directors at work as they where under the impression they had or where going bust!

The reason it came up as we was talking about season ticket loans and under cut the 9% but its just getting your foot in the door at the football clubs!

The guys at Zebra fell into this by mistake and now doing 58 clubs!

Id like to know the arrears out standing on this season, season tickets

I think in a way you have answered your own question .

We have cut staff both off and on field

Cut the wage bill

Used external funding ( on what i dont know. do you ?)

All of the above mean a lesser team and ultimately a lesser experience for us the fans.

Asking us to pay more for a poorer service on the grounds that we are loyal and to not to do so would make us a lesser supporter is what rangles me most.

Personally i think that its financial suicide to up the prices especially after showing such little support to the management team when they needed the support most and when we had a chance of gaining promotion.

I would never write off someone elses opinion , but saying that people should back the club regardless of price increase is just a silly statement.

I wont be renewing my season card at those prices and i have missed maybe 5 games this season anyway due to work comittments, but would have still got another card regardless if the prices had stayed the same.

Tommy

The external funding is used on community schemes (like SCORE). It boosts the club's profile in the community, and encourages local kids to get involved in tehg grass roots of the game and support their local club.

My point is not about why should we be asked to pay more for a lesser product, my point is more basic than that. The club needs more money than it gets now to run as it is. If it doesn't get it from us, where else will it come from? I certainly didn't answer that question myself!

The economic reality is we've been paying less than the market value of what we've been given this season.

Clearly the club has been stupendously mis-managed over the last few seasons. I'm not arguing about that. But in fact I think all we're actually watching is the economic reality of the fact that football in general is too expensive. Crawly will have difficulties sometime, and I bet it's not even in the distant future but the mid-term.

Personally for me I think it's money well spent. I love the club and I don't think £350 is a lot really in the grand scheme of things for 23 days/nights out.

I feel were on the field moving in the right direction and I want to see how we do next season. I will renew but then I think I will renew until I am no more so I'm possibly not a true cross section.

Statement from The Trust:

The Shrimpers Trust believe that a price increase, both for season tickets and in terms of matchday prices, at Southend United for the 2011/12 season was inevitable given the financial situation at the club stated by chief executive Tara Brady in his interview with BBC Essex earlier in the season.
The Trust were consulted by the Football Club, and we advised that we believed a matchday price of £20 would be acceptable given the necessity to recoup some of the losses sustained by the club on a monthly basis. It was also our opinion that season ticket prices, offering in essence around six free matches, should be built around this level.

The prices announced by the Club today are higher than expected. The Trust were not aware of the final proposals and any suggestion that we were consulted should be tempered with that knowledge. Had any later consultation occurred, we would have argued against the final figures. The Club have a difficult balancing act with regards to ticket pricing, and the amounts released today leave supporters with a difficult personal decision as to whether they renew their season ticket cards for next season.

Well thats ok then as long as we keep winning awards for our community spirit.

Who votes for these things anyway?

I mean lets be honest for quite some time now we have owed fortunes to local businesses we have used and not paid , some of which have gone bankrupt .

We are the local club that has bullied a few well established local shops simply because they stand in our way or should i say in the way of Ron's pipe dream.

The same club that hardly ever does promotions for the local children like it did just a few seasons ago.

The same club that is managed so badly and treats its own fans like something it stepped in purely on the basis that it can manipulate them as they own the club that the fans love to support.

If we are some sort of community club of the year then what the **** are every other club doing?

As i said i wont renew on the basis that i dont need to. I missed 5 games and that 5 games will cost me a £100 next season. So its not worth doing.

To tell you the truth it may be more next year as there has been many times this season when i only went because i had paid for a season card.

We all know whats going to happen. Ron is desperate for this money to keep the HMRC off our backs. The money for Luggy will be ZERO, Mohsni, Hall, Grant likely to leave (maybe some more) and the youths will plug the gaps and it will be a real struggle. I predict we will not make a single signing in the summer. Call me foolish but that is my gut feeling. After two successive seasons of wage problems, court appearances, it is not surprising that 43 (and then some) players turned us down. Yes we got some in the summer but most of those were on the scrap heap and no doubt hoodwinked by Rons talk of promotion and the new stadium. Both those dreams are dead in the water.
