Sankofa, a very weak link!

Think Wiggy is computer generated, when we lose a random post appears that creates a discussion thread. Brilliant.

She can't be real.

always enjoy a good wiggy thread!!

i was gettin frustrated with sanky last night due to his inability on the ball, killed off several moves going forward when the ball came to him, think francis should have replaced him about 15mins early, that said though i agree sanky is the safer more reliable right back and deserves the start! just think when we needed the goal he should have been off earlier!

So you've given up on ridiculing Mildenhall, and taken on the challenge of Sankofa. Well played !

Dont worry, Sankofa is learning has trade and has the attributes to become a decent player. Im a big fan of Francis but unfortunately he just doesnt seem to be able to get bakc to where he was a few years ago form wise.

Sankofa will do a Mildy and come good, and Wiggy can move onto someone else.

I'm very confused...... Wiggy - you know that Sankofa is an outfield player and doesnt play in goal right...

Now Mr.Tilson, if you are not going to play with any width then please spare us having to endure watching probably the most layed back, unexiting, crab like player to ever play at right back for Southend. Francis was up and down and whipping in crosses within 10 minutes of coming on. OK he has his off days but one of them is better than watching Sankofa go through the motions. Last week you all defended him but this is a player that will get poor to average in most peoples ratings every week as he is incapable of going forward. Time to get back in the reserves for this one i think!

You are obviously somebody who never had the "pleasure" of seeing Chris Ramsey in a Southend shirt.

As a regular critic of Lewis Hunt, IMO one of the most negative players in our squad no matter which utiility position he was being played, and as someone who thinks Sankofa's a dependable young full back who is improving all the time, I'll put my hand up and say that I tihink Sankofa is better than Lewis Hunt.

And why pick on Sankofa anyway? All he did wrong last night was be a defensive-minded player on the pitch at a time when we needed someone more attack-minded.

I think your being very over the top about Sankofa here. He was brought in at right back since the Chelsea game to make us more solid. Whilst Francis offers us more going forward, Sankofa is a better defender. The run we was on before Chelsea, and after it as well, meant we needed to be harder to beat so the likes of Sankofa coming in, Grant on one wing, Moussa on the other wing and the return to form of Macca makes us more solid because we aren't so expansive as we are when he play wingers and attacking full backs.

Francis has been caught out numerous times with us going forward and leaving us exposed. With Sankofa coming in, although it reduces our attacking play from right back, it makes us more solid at the back. It means when we go forward Sankofa and the rest of the back 4 are staying put with JFC infront giving us 5 back, leaving the likes of Macca, Moussa, Grant, and whoever else to bomb forward and make chances. We have conceded too many goals on the counter attack this season because people are going forward and leaving us exposed.

Sankofa isn't the best player, infact YB calling him the "black Che Wilson" is a pretty good description. I think League One is his level. Never going to pick up 8/9 out of 10, but will very rarely pick up 5/6. He will be a consistent 7 over the course of the season whereas Francis will be 9 one week then 4 the following week.

Wiggy gives us yet another interesting viewpoint after a defeat.

Perhaps the recent praise for Mildenhall has had an unsettling effect!!

Classic Wiggy, best laugh of the day.

To be fair to Wiggy, when Clarke and Dervitte got pulled out of position for the goal, Sankofa should've covered better when the pass came in.

Every time the ball got played out to Barrett's side by Millwall, Sankofa would run back and be oblivious to his winger running to the far post behind him leaving him un-marked.

But then Francis does that and so does Peter Clarke for that matter:stunned:

I agree that he is not specacular but when you get an attacking minded right-back then gaps will appear in the defense because he will always want to get forward. He is still quite young and inexperienced. He was free and is not on high wages, so if we want to get a better right-back then he will likely to be expensive and could want high wages.

What didn't help on the goal was Barrett diving in needlessly...

dont think too much wrong with right hand side of defence/attack , left hand side is dire though not one decent cross from left since barrett moved to left back ,also dont seem to have a clue how to take throw ins . BRING BACK HERD .

Maybe play Francis at right wing in the games we are most likely to attack more frequently in such as home games, and play Grant in the games we are going to be needing a lot more solid defence?

Wiggy, what are you on. Sankofa is easily one our most improved players. He is solid although unspectacular. First of all a right back, or defender, needs to be a good defender and then worry about pushing forward.

if you want to look at weakness at the back, look no further than Barrett. The guy is constantly out of position and gets beaten far to often, look at last nites goal.

mr Tilson is also to blame for playing two centre mid players out wide. I actuall think that both moussa and grant have played well recently but offer no width or ability to attack the full backs. But, to criticise Sankofa is just ridiculous.

I agree with this, but last night there was absolutely no width and with the weather conditions (especially 2nd half) it was ridiculous to just keep punting the ball down the middle.

For me Francis is real class, the problem that he has had for a lot of this season and most of last is a midfeilder in front of him who could'nt defend / cover for him when he runs the overlap, a la Barrett last night when he was left exposed by the Mousse who had drifted to the middle.
and most of last

Think the defensive improvement is more down to Dervite myself!

Is that the same Dervite who Tilly brought in then ??

Serious question ok ... are you single ?? because if you ****ing moan and groan around the house like you do on here i'm surprised your old man hasn't landed you in the Womens Refuge before now
