Sankofa, a very weak link!

Now Mr.Tilson, if you are not going to play with any width then please spare us having to endure watching probably the most layed back, unexiting, crab like player to ever play at right back for Southend. Francis was up and down and whipping in crosses within 10 minutes of coming on. OK he has his off days but one of them is better than watching Sankofa go through the motions. Last week you all defended him but this is a player that will get poor to average in most peoples ratings every week as he is incapable of going forward. Time to get back in the reserves for this one i think!

With the amount of goals we were shipping in I think having a right back who didnt go forward was essential.. When was the last time we let in a goal that was his area of responsibility

.....but would go as far to say that if Francis had started instead of negative Norman and Betsy instead of the ridiculously unfit lazy Laurent then we probably would have won. Two glaring Tilly mistakes!

I guess some people are just never happy without having something to moan about. Your posts really do show you know less than nothing about football.

I wont bother neg repping you, I'm sure that's your aim.

Sanks is a Lewis Hunt-esque right back, the best type for league one IMO. He's solid and I'm very pleased with his signing.

To be fair, given the amount of times I was groaning with Franno at right back earlier in the season, the relative anonymity of Sankofa is quite refreshing. He may not be the most dynamic player but he's formed part of the most solid defensive four we've had in a while. How many chances did they generate last night?

Oh and trust me, I know a thing or two about right backs who don't go forward..... :)

Wow, this is negativity beyond what I thought I was capable of!?

Sankofa, whilst not spectacular, has been a bright spot in our recent improvement. He is solid, dependable and made the right-back spot his own from the more technically gifted Francis.

Get a life Wiggy!

That's his role every week from the first minute Mr.Benitez!

But it's not really a right back's role is it? Not when you're shipping as many goals as we were around the turn of the year. And Francis's tendency to bomb forward and get caught out is, I suspect, the reason he was dropped from the right back slot in the first place.

been very solid in recent weeks thought he was ok last night, not as good on the ball as francis but much better defender

Think the defensive improvement is more down to Dervite myself!

Wiggy, what are you on. Sankofa is easily one our most improved players. He is solid although unspectacular. First of all a right back, or defender, needs to be a good defender and then worry about pushing forward.

if you want to look at weakness at the back, look no further than Barrett. The guy is constantly out of position and gets beaten far to often, look at last nites goal.

mr Tilson is also to blame for playing two centre mid players out wide. I actuall think that both moussa and grant have played well recently but offer no width or ability to attack the full backs. But, to criticise Sankofa is just ridiculous.

The good right back defends solidly and, when the opportunity arises, overlaps and builds attacks.

We don't have one of those at present and therefore the defensive fullback who can't attack is better than the attacking fullback who can't defend.

In time, if we want to be a better team, we will need to find a decent fullback who can also attack.

God one unlucky 1-0 defeat 0ur first in 5 games and Wiggy already starts. Hate to see what happens if we lose another one. Sankofa is not the most technically gifted player or the most dynamic but he does a solid job at right back. He does what his first job is - defend. To be honest we were **** poor at the back and now we have one of the meanest defences possible. I do not want to see him bombing up the wing for 80 yards then losing the ball thu being wel out of position. This is what Francis did and we were gettin screwed more than Abi Titmuss. He does a very good job at protecting his goal and thats all i want from him.

Hands up who thinks Sankofa is better than Lewis Hunt?

Very wrong there....Francis pushes forward far too often. Last night, if Franno would have started, we would still have lost, but by more than just 1-0. Millwall played a lot of football into the channels, both left and right. Barrett and Sankofa did their job last night (bar the one slip by Barrett that ultimately cost us). With Franno at right back and pushing forward at every opportunity, we would have been very exposed down that channel and either Martin or Alexander would have exploited that to the full.

Well done to Sankofa for snuffing them both out!!

What the lewis hunt that was in and out of the team in all his time here. the lewis hunt that since at wycombe cant hold down a place in the team. the lewis hunt that got slated regularly on here.

sankofa, in general has received much praise since being in the team and always gets a good ovation when he is sacrificed. i say again, he is better than barrett in the psoition he plays.
