Sale of Southend United to Justin Rees and his consortium

What Ronald Mugabe fails to understand is when you run a business as badly as he has there are consequences to both the value of the asset, as well as how people are going to deal with you ie: without utter suspicion and distrust.

What the past few years have told us about Mugabe is that he doesn't really live on planet earth, see's no failure in any of his work and has no compassion for anyone except for himself.

This is why its impossible to deal with this utter **** with the only way is for the government/fans to go nuclear on him and all the Martin enterprises.

What will happen is that Ron will release a statement that is equally well-worded but everyone will say it isn't and that Ron's statement is full of lies (and to be fair history is not on his side).

We all get excited over the must-be truth of Justin's statement but the only truth is that no-one really knows who is telling the truth and who's lying, not even those claiming to be ITK.

We just have to wait for this to reach its natural end, be it one way or the other, and for all fans, myself included, this realisation is highly frustrating and emotionally draining.
I know RM has been caught out several times saying one thing to a stakeholder with a vested interest in the sale, and then something different to another. I actually find it unsettling and alarming just how naturally and easily he speaks untruths....things that he knows to be untrue, too. It's compulsive.

UPDATE FROM JUSTIN REES ON PURCHASE OF SOUTHEND UNITED
⚽

Justin Rees has issued an update on behalf of the consortium bidding to buy Southend United FC from Ron Martin. It's a lengthy statement, so I'll link to it at the bottom.
The key facts are:
⚽
Negotiations are continuing.
⚽
Two bids have been submitted, both of which have been rejected by Ron Martin.
⚽
The consortium understands that liquidation will be avoided on 4 October.
⚽
The possibility of administration remains, which would have significant impact on the club.
⚽
The focus of the consortium is around the club remaining at Roots Hall, and Ron Martin being freed up to develop Fossetts Farm without the new stadium requirement.
I am urgently seeking updates from the Council leadership, and am continuing to push for the Council to do what it can to help facilitate the sale and saving of the club.

Excellent statement imho. Firmly puts the pressure on Ron and his “no bids have been made” bs.

Suggests that JR & the consortium are in this for the long haul, and aren’t being put off by two rejected bids. 👍

Like the fact they consider FF to be unviable (presumably as it would involve working with the 🐀) and they see the future to be a renovated RH.

UTB

Ps. SELL UP RON YOU 🐀

I'm sure this has been answered a million times but what does administration actually mean and why is it so bad for the consortium?
Administration would likely mean another 10 point penalty from the league, which points towards National League South next season unless our boys in blue and the 3 Amigos can pull off a miracle. So...at least two seasons away from league football, maybe players going part-time, crowds down (the 33 of Maidenhead last night would feel like a decent crowd) etc etc. Not impossible - Stockport went down to that level and have got back in the league - but definitely a huge backward step in the eyes of investors looking at say a 5 or 10 year plan.

Even with another -10 i firmly believe Kev and the boys would still manage to keep us in this league.

What the City really needs (purely from a traffic perspective - though clearly there would be a lot of concerns too) is a bypass from somewhere near the A127 / A130 junction heading round Rayleigh, the airport etc and coming to the East side of the City. That could do with a park and ride scheme for tourists and day trippers to use too.

Then the City would be less traffic congested throughout, the East of the City wouldn’t be a development wilderness, silly schemes like Seaway wouldn’t be needed and existing seafront parking could be prioritised for locals, Fossetts would be accessible - and with less cars coming into the City the air quality would be better.

Sadly this won’t happen until transport policy / strategy and (critically) cash/political will come together to deliver it. Currently that’s Essex plus Southend plus Rochford plus Castle Point plus Basildon plus Uncle Tom Cobbleigh and all that would need to come together. That doesn’t feel extremely likely though does it?
Sorry, we don't need more roads, that doesn't solve anything. What we need is viable alternatives to driving. There are too many cars on our roads.
