Sadlers Farm - seriously ? This is the best it can be managed ?

Now I know that when its done the bypass is going to be fantastic, but my god how long is it taking to get through at the moment !?

I came through tonight about 5:45 and the tailback was a mile or two BEFORE the 5 Bells roundabout.

The website says completion in April, but there still looks to be a lot of work to be done and if this is how its going to be for the next 2 months then its depressing as hell.

I think the most annoying thing is if they could just stop all traffic and work on it it'd be done in 3 or 4 months its all the sub plans to keep all routes open that is the biggest test for the contractor

Have mentioned the work a few times in various threads over the last year or so...I shall be extremely glad when this is all finished. The constant night working now seems to have stopped, at least near the end of my road. Trying to get anywhere around Benfleet if you have to use the A13 in the mornings is a nightmare, think I may give walking to work a go tomorrow.

The traffic has been bad for sometime, tailbacks reaching the 5 bells roundabout but the latest changes have made it even worse. They are apparently putting in traffic lights today, I cant see that improving it somehow.

Wouldnt be so bad if the A127 wasnt such a crap road. Ive not got a choice of two really slow roads to get home on.

I do appreciate its a massive job and will reap the benefits in the long run, but the next couple of months are going to be a pain.

Tried checking the timescales and it just says "spring", although bridges are meant to be completed by end of April so hope that will be close to the end.

Does anyone else see the irony in Jam_Man complaining about road congestion?

Both routes in and out of town have been noticably worse over the last few weeks. I can understand the A13 with the work on Saddlers farm, but can anyone explain why the A127 has been so bad. When the progress road junction was changed a year ago it really improved journeys out of southend in the morning and back in the evening. However recently it has returned to how it was....have they adjusted the lights at progress road or something, because the flow is not as good as it was.....

Heard someone on the radio this morning saying Sadlers was due to be finished by the end of May....several more weeks of madness then :'(

Well one well known poster knows more than he's letting on and its supposed to be done by May, the end of May, so expect 10 weeks of it, but then again it could go into June ...

Following @Essex_Travel is a good idea if you're on twitter as it gives updates throughout the day, mainly highlighting not to go anywhere near the A13!!

Incidentally, someone just sent me this on FB:

Anyone having trouble with the traffic off Canvey and through Benfleet and Thundersley should call this number 01268 881300! They only had 2 complaints Monday morning so were going to continue monitoring traffic this week but the plan is to leave this road system in place until the works are done!!! So if you want to complain you need to call Birse Civil on 01268 881300! Please copy and paste so all your suffering friends can see and share!!!

I always find that from the A130 the A127 is fine, I get through there without many problems al the way to Southend.

However the last two nights have been tailbacks right up to progress road and I too wondered if they had changed something, if they did then the screwed up as its been awful.

So it now takes over half an hour to get from 5 Bells to Sadlers Farm, then I get stuck on the bloody A127.

Sounds like all we can do is lump it.

I expect it's just to do with people avoiding using the A13. For example I've noticed a lot more people using the A127 and turning off at Rayleigh Weir (this is usually around 4:45PM going eastbound) instead of going through Tarpots etc.

Definitely this. In the morning, London bound is now a nightmare until Basildon and then it all disappears. Same in the evening Southend bound - the traffic is a nightmare as soon as you come off the M25 and the turning off to go to Rayleigh has tailbacks to the A130!

All night working going on again tonight, floodlights a-plenty (working ones please note Aldershot!) and lots of machinery noises in close proximity to my house. Means I'll have to have the windows closed if I want to sleep

Traffic into Southend on the A127 from 4.30pm onwards has been shocking this week. Clearly everyone is using the A127 instead of the A13 and I can't blame them. Taken me nearly an hour to get from Basildon to Eastwood this week at 6pm, usually takes 30 mins max and the tailbacks from Progress Road have been shockingly bad

I work in grays and get a train to ptsea. I live near tarpots and have resorted to walking from pitsea station on the way home rather than getting a taxi and end up with a £10+ fare. The london road is even worse than the A13.

I went out after work on friday so didn't have to face it. However apparently they've added some lights and a couple of men with stop go signs which has improved things.

I can't believe they took the four roundabouts away before completing the bypass. Madness.

i drive from hockley to chafford hundred each working day and since they changed the road layout ive been using the A127 last week with the accident on the 127 and the roadworks it took 2 hrs to get to work and there was no improvment on the way home either
