Oh dear:sad:

Always looked the case when they bailed him to return on a Thursday.
The fact this happend on a club do makes this even more annoying this could cost the chance of a play off place imo....maybe he will get a tag and be out in less?

Well, Banton needs to sign on now.

That is the biggest blow we could of had at this time of the season.

He is practically the only one who can create chances for others.

Our Play-Off push could now be in tatters.

Tempted to say "good", but its obviously not for our promotion hopes.

Be interesting to see if the club stick by him - I still say we should sack him I'm afraid.

No excuse for kicking him in the head?

Bollocks. There goes our promotion hopes.

Of course the club should stick by him, people make mistakes, when he comes out he'll have paid his debt. Seems harsh when you hear about people getting lesser punishments for worse crimes.

If we get Banton in as a replacement, he's got big 20 assist boots to fill.

yes great idea lets sack the best player we probably have for a small fracas. He is serving his time so give him a break.

depends on his previous which I think he might have. One thing you realise pretty quickly if your in and around courts is that sentencing is often arbitrary. I thought the fact that he had pleaded guilty and was racially abused would have been some mitigation. Still as we're trying to keep more people out of jail it seems a perfectly reasonable sentence. :stunned:

My gut feeling was that we'd fall short of the play-offs anyway but this almost certainly ends any chances now, unless Banton can make a genuine impact - if we sign him of course. Otherwise we're looking at an extended run for Louis Soares.

Play off chances blown, but to be fair there maybe a chance he could still play games for Southend whilst in Jail "depending on his cat"... He could well be available for a play off push... IF

Does anyone know if he was sentanced at Southend Maj? And Does anyone know if it is 100% his first offence he has been sentanced for?

If so he will be off to Chelmsford this afternoon. (If anyone wants to send him a note www.emailaprisoner.com), then next Wednesday will be off to Hollesley Bay a open prison in Suffolk 100%... If this is his 1st "sentanced" offence".

He has 70 days to serve, but once he has done laydown for 28 days at Hollesley he will be able to come "home" each weekend from Friday Evening to Monday morning twice a month (away games) and release from 7am to 11pm on the other 2 weekends. He will also be able to go home for 1 week at a time (5 day period every 28 days)

He could be granted 18 day early release on license from a closed prison but would 100% get from a closed or a open prison TAG, which is a 40% reduction taking his sentence to 42 days. He fitness should be good as both Chelmsford and Hollesly bay have very good gym and football calenders.

I would say he could available on leave from prison by the 9th of next month or released on tag or the 14th on TAG...

.... NOW PS SIGN SOMEONE UP PLEASE!

This will be the general reaction. But people cannot separate Hall the Southend player, from Hall the human being it seems.

What if it was your Dad/Brother/Mother etc he kicked in the head? Would you be so forgiving?

What if he didnt play football, but worked in a butchers or something? Would you be happy with the debt he is paying to society?

Just because it suits SUFC fans to keep him, doesnt make it right.

If he was my employee, on an event organised by my business and was known in the community and he did that, I wouldnt want to be associated with him. I'd wish him luck elsewhere, but I'd want to be seen to distance myself from his actions.

Just my opinion...

This might sound stupid but.....Can he play with a tag ,or would he be allowed to take it off during a game?

If he was a butcher, I wouldn't begrudge him a future job as a butcher providing he has served his time and paid his debt to society.

Jermaine Pennant played several games whilst tagged. I believe he can choose which leg is tagged, though, so I'd guess he'd prefer to have his right leg tagged.
