There have been a lot of heartfelt genuine comments on here and other threads on what supporters could/should do to get rid of Phil Brown. I've been following the Blues for many years and have encountered some seriously disappointing managers and chairmen who I felt required removal. What I haven't encountered is concerted supporter action which has directly led to their removal, any of them. I have seen gates plummet, sprayed bed sheets displayed around the ground, impromptu pitch invasions (never going to Basildon) but until results are so bad that the chairman acts nothing else has worked to my recollection. Supporter power has never played a big role in the politics of Southend United FC.

PB will be Southend's manager until Ron decides otherwise. PB has nowhere else to go as manager and therefore he's not going to resign, and for that matter, his ego wouldn't let him. Some think that Ron's vote of confidence is the kiss of death for Mr Brown, I think the opposite. I genuinely believe Ron is still giving him his full backing and nothing I or you say or do will change that. I don't pretend to understand why Ron is so supportive, but there again I don't understand a lot of things about Ron, especially the lack of any activity on FF (but that's for another thread).

Sherif is probably right when he says we are apathetic as a collective group where action is required. I include myself in that label and It's not something I'm particularly proud of.

Apathetic, no. Utterly powerless, yes. Another big issue is that for most fans, the off-pitch situation will not be a reality until we are actually staring closure in the face. Until then, people are happy to bury their head in the sand and hope for the best. It's not a criticism, it's human nature.

On the basis that apathy can be described as a lack of enthusiasm or concern, I'm happy to maintain my original assessment, on that basis that burying one's head in the sand and continuing to accept things the way they are exhibits both a lack of enthusiasm/appetite to collectively rise against the threat that is the current regime, and an apparent lack of concern/understanding of the severity of the condition we are in right now...

we are on the edge of bankruptcy and liquidation unless things change for the better in the very near future.

Sorry, I am probably being a bit dense here. But Southend were prepared to fork out a big fee for Leyton Orient's Simpson a few months ago so is the club really that skint?

Blue Heaven got it wrong, it's that the same club who was ready & willing to fork out over 100k plus wages for J. Simpson?

We are in situation where as supporters apart from demonstrating (remember when we tried withJobson... doesn't work) or not attending games so are powerless to do anything.
The reality is Ron will not walk away whilst there's any chance of a return on his money. Can't afford to ....so what are the alternatives?
Only a financial meltdown of his empire or health issues will change his current attitude of no contact or explanation to the paying public. The fact that the season is being written off after only 10 games is disgrace to the supporters.

The figure of £14m debt was mentioned earlier in this thread. Is that accurate? If so, there's not a property deal in the UK (unless it was in prime central London) that would get us out of the mire. Unless of course £13m of it was owed to 1 man, and that man was happy to write it off. Too much emotion about our finances - what is the actual situation?

Regarding PB - we all know he'll either sort it (which I think unlikely) or Ron will sack him. It's a matter of time. We're not going up this season either way so people just need to chill a little. We've not been in this sort of position for at least 6 or 7 years which is unusual and why there's perhaps a bit of over-reaction.

Eye watering.

How any of those are classed as a solvent business is a mystery.

Chill Ron is minted with a master plan! All you non believers will eat humble pie when we are in our new stadium watching championship football! Back Ron because he's worth it!

there is a few Slovenian players playing against England tonight, 1 of them looking for a club.....looks good.....Ron might fork out.

That's clear then. Unless these are 'paper debts', all owed to the chairman and he'll ultimately write them off, we're screwed. To offset a £14m loss you need a £14m profit which doesn't happen to any football club at our level.

If PB is to be sacked and im not sure he will be ,then hopefully it would happen by the middle of November ,to give the new manager time to assess the players before the January transfer window opens, both for acquiring new players and saying goodbye to those not needed.Myself i hope that our performances do pick up and we start the climb up the table ,to either respectability or challenging for a playoff position ,i think an auto position is out of the
question.

Wignall was sacked for the lack of passion in his eyes on 3rd November. That give us enough time to have a cup run and stay up under an inexperienced caretaker manager which all rather worked out well.

Adopting such a timetable would make Shrewsbury at home PB's last game.

Therein lies the problem I think.
I imagine that every time Ron asks to see Phil , to give him a dressing down / last warning , Phil turns into the snake from Jungle Book - "trust in me" - and Ron goes away convinced all is well.
Damn Phil and those 'passion filled' eyes !

This is the only sort of passion in PB's eyes
