I've never been more convinced that the club can't realistically afford to pay off Brown, no matter what garbage line Chris Phillips has been fed. The whole of 2016 has been an absolute shambles and here we are 9 months on and Brown miraculously still has a job. He must be the luckiest man in football. You only have to read this thread to recognise what the supporters think is right for the club. Ron must realise that relegation will cost a HELL of a lot more than he'd need to cough up to get rid of El Tango. My Saturday's are busy enough with work and I've sacrificed a lot over the last few years to come to home games - if we drop back into L2 it's a sabbatical for me until promotion.

Vote of confidence. Needs a win on Saturday. Chesterfield is a winnable game as long as he doesn't come up with a bizarre team selection. I reckon he'll go 442 with Ferdinand in midfield after his cameo show at Rochdale.

Phil Brown comes out and roasts his players and supporters get on his back saying he needs to encourage etc - Ron comes out and encourages by saying he has faith etc and supporters get on his back .

Funny old game this football lark

For what its worth I think PB will keep us up , the league is very tight and 2 or 3 wins on the bounce can see us fly up the league , surely it must be more drepessing being a Charlton and Millwall fan who were tipped to do great things in this league and are on the same points as us

And do what? If you can find a multi-million pound developer to buy the club off Ron then happy days, otherwise any demostration is useless.

Supporters Trust, could, in theory attempt to mount a bid to purchase Roots Hall at current market value, on the basis that the Club's perilous finances do finally crumple under the pressure, and consistent defaults force administration.
At that point, and using crude calculations, it would, for instance, take the core of our support to contribute £1k each for 1 ordinary share in a fan-owned Club to buy the stadium at a knock-down price.

Biggest problem with all of this is that RM is essentially SUFC, and vice versa, so ownership of Roots Hall aside, there would appear to be a mountain of creditors to whom any administrator would need to piece off assetts - the only assett we really have at our disposal is, of course, Roots Hall...

Just summising...

Credit where due - Ronald does stick by his managers
Criticism where due - Ronald needs to sack Brown now before it is too late!

I understand the 'core support' logic Sherif, but that sounds like a pretty big ask to me. People will always offer this that and the other until it comes to putting their money where their mouth is, and then a grand is a big old chunk of money, even to save the club.

Indeed. You may as well flush it down the loo for the return investing in a football club will bring.

I agree....but well attended and well publicised demonstrations may prick the interest of someone who can actually deliver a property development.....

Pompey fans have managed to make a success of a decrepit stadium, and paying relatively large wages in the process. Depends how much the fans value having a football club doesn't it really.
With a sympathetic and realistic approach to spatial planning, Roots Hall could easily be improved to maximise non-matchday revenue streams, which would enable the Club to operate sustainably.

I bow to your knowledge Sherif! I still think that you'd struggle to find people to part with £1K however, its far too much of a risk for a club that's got a current debt of £14M (I think).

Still, the Euromillions is up to £149M.....we should invest in Shrimperzone tickets

Realistically mate, I suspect the most fruitful way of attempting such a takeover would be to get a decent enough core of supporters to commit to a peppercorn investment as suggested, and approach local business leaders/chamber of commerce to tout interested parties (I suspect there would be significant intererst with a change of regime proposed)...

Either this is a vote of confidence or PB going would cost more than relegation. I'm inclined to believe (hope) it is the former and he has until All Hallows' Eve to push us up the table.

I wouldn't read too much into this statement. If Ron is thinking of sacking Brown, I wouldn't expect him to say that to the Echo. I think the last sentence is the most telling... " It’s been a disappointing start but I’m sure it will get better.”
I reckon he's got another month before Ron pulls the trigger (4 months too late in my opinion)

As a stand alone statement I agree completely. but we are not in a stand alone situation with Ron at the helm. If the bloke is to be ousted, it needs some serious financial muscle from SUFC friendly businessmen/Entrepreneurs fronted by a Supporters organisation.

ps and stop posting what I've just posted before I've posted it. post 36:thumbsup:

Didn't I read on here that someone spoke to Ron once and he said no chairman would position himself that he couldn't afford to sack a manager....?

Not that I believe much that comes out of RM's mouth but I'm clinging on to this in hope!!
