Received the FB message as others did, but didn't see it till 11 o'clock. My reaction when I started to read it was just total disbelief and then sadness. I was fortunate enough to know Harry fairly well, even before Eggheads, the Sunday night quizzes that used to go on on here were a kind of "bonding exercise" out of which grew the Zone Eggheads team, and of course, Harry was the only one of us that actually had any success in the competition, on his favourite subject of Sport and saving the rest of us the embarrassment of totally ballsing up! We travelled to Scotland together for that, along with young Hutton, so plenty of time for Harry's stories.

I know everyone is going on about the "we're gonna get spanked" thing, but for me, Harry's witticisms and puns were something I always enjoyed. Often used to bump into Harry on his way into the ground as we walked round to the West, and would always stop for a chat. I gave him a lift home after the Trust Quiz a couple of Saturdays ago, and he was telling me then that his aunt had recently died which made him the oldest member of his family. He was genuinely one of life's good guys, and was so pleased to now be getting "Senior" rates at the club - it's a real shame he couldn't enjoy his bus pass for longer!

He's going to be a massive loss for the Zone, I feel sorry for those who never had the pleasure of meeting Harry, he was a genuinely lovely, considerate person and I'm grateful to have been able to call him "friend".

Sweet Dreams Harry, RIP.

A particular line from H that has always stuck in my mind talking about Theakstons Old Peculiar on here "A great beer for when the bottom has fallen out of your world, although the next day the world will fall out of your bottom".

I've found myself refreshing the Zone all day to read people's posts. Love these Harry anecdotes - anyone got any more stories/memories?

I seem to remember that although most of us had a thoroughly enjoyable tapas meal in Glasgow the night before the recording, Harry, in his wisdom, ate rather a lot of the blood pudding, and along with the red wine and beers he'd had in the pub beforehand, wasn't in the best or most comfortable of places during the next 12 hours or so! Hutton could probably enlarge more on that - he had to share a room with him!

This is one of my best memories of Harry, with us sitting at Glasgow Airport, enjoying a beer and a meal, waiting to come home. Just read on FB that he had an uncle still alive so something was amiss with what he said - although I was driving and obviously it is possible I misunderstood.

Wow. I met harry a few times but did not know him that well, which is my loss judging by the wonderful comments left by thows who did. R.I.P Harry.

Never knew him personally but he will be a great loss to the Zone. Terribly sad news and thoughts are with his family and friends at a very difficult time. Life can be so unfair.

RIP.

Terrible, terrible news.

After all my posts on here, I'm finally lost for words. I just don't know what to say other than it's been a privilege knowing you.

RIP mate.

I don't know what to say. I didn't know him personally but he was one of my favourite posters on here. Always knowledgeable, sensible and witty. I know a lot of you did know him personally and my heart goes out to you and the rest of his friends and family.

RIP.
Echo this. Awful news.

Absolutely gutted and so sad ATM. I great guy and a true friend.I am lost for words but will post again later.

I am absolutly devestated to hear this and am so upset I just dont know what to say - so have avoided coming on here and F/B today.
I will sorely miss him - he was one of our quiz team 4 and he promised to buy me the first drink at the next quiz night! so glad I saw him and spoke to him at the last home game.

Oh Harry!!!!!!!!!! I am going to miss you mate

RIP Recognise the face and read most of his posts  will be missed on the zone.

My sincere condolences to his family, friends and fellow zoners who it sounds like had the privelege to know him.

What I liked about Harry's posts is that they were always well thought out and if he was replying to me he would always call me "Nick" even though he did not know me and must have bothered to find out my name. And he would always suggest you were wrong with your facts in such a nice way.
