Released Players, Possible Transfer Targets?

Chris Doig is a big, experienced centre back who was mentioned earlier on in this thread. Captain at Northampton, would be cheap and is quite a good player.
Also Darren Purse is a good, experienced centre back and a nice bloke, met him a few times.
Dennis Lawrence is a 6"7' centre back on loan and captain at Crewe this season, think his contract at Swansea is up and has retired from international football as he's getting on a bit but could still do a good job here

on the signing front we are again lagging behind David Fox Blackpool Midfielder out of contract in the summer has just signed for CUFC

But he didnt join last summer due to wages - that wont have changed. Colchester pay big wages at this level.

was with blackpool for three and half years joins the inbreeds on the 01/07

you are right on the high wages at CUFC have been told this that there are
least 5/6 players on more money than our players

cowling has big pockets of cash and is willing to throw it at the manager to get the players in

shame cant be said about there support season ticket sales are reported on there forum are between 800 to just under there season total for last year
which was under 2000 i belive

if they contine to pay high salaries and play in front of low gates can see them going down the tube

i can hope

I expect other midfielders will be leaving we have far too many, but mainly on expensive contracts!

I suspect Johnnie Jackson or Mark Yeates may well be going after this signing, others may well follow because this guy gives us 10 midfielders in our 1st team squad, no need for more than around 6 in my opinion.

...and still many of them bleat as if they're somehow getting less than they deserve, whilst they're being subsidised to such a ridiculous extent. Watching the spoilt adapt to the real world is usually good entertainment value, and I don't expect that to be any different when the time comes for them to live within the means provided by a meagre income from a pathetic support.

Where are Jackson and Yeates going? Yeates is by far your best player IMo so I presume he won't be moved on by the Club's preference?

Rumours are that Jackson is not rated by Lambert, this new guy is rated highly for his freekicks and corner routines which often are taken by Jackson at present so it comes from there really. Yeates is always being linked with various clubs, he is also a corner and free kick specialist, several clubs are said to be interested in him at present so if the offer is enough cash we will sell. Looks like Chris Coyne will be leaving as well, he does not get many games for us although he has 2 years left on his contract. He wants more 1st team football than he gets with us because of his International place with the Aussies, so stand by for another player leaving in the next few weeks, and other players coming in.

Any thoughts on Lambert now maybe leaving to go to Celtic C&P?
This is a rumour that appears to be slowly gaining momentum up here seeing as Martinez is now likely Wigan bound, he was supposedly recommended to the Celtic board by none other than Rod Stewart!

Sorry for the late reply Glasgow I have only just seen your post.

To be honest I dont think he has the managerial experience for a club of that size at present, admittedly he was a decent player at a high level but that does not always mean they are good managers. I think he will stay with us for a couple of seasons and then move on to a bigger club if he does well with us.
Even then I can only see him going to a big Championship club at best, Celtic or any club of that size is at least 5-10 years away for him imho.

Yes spotted that in some Aussie newspaper web sites and posted a link on our m/b the other day, Colchester have denied it as you can see but I still think he will go. He does not get into our side very often, he goes off playing for their national side and then can't get into ours, when GW signed him he was not playing very often for the Aussies.

Funny thing is that Chris Coyne has actually played for both clubs. Southend on loan and obviously Colchester. He is looking to come back home preferrably to Sydney FC or Perth Glory (club of his Brother). Also heard that Colchester are willing to let him go.

Blackpool have today released 8 players, one of which being Fox who is joining Col Ewe:

Isn't Stuart Green the player that turned us down a couple of years back, maybe when we was in the Championship, because he didn't want to relocate down south? We tried to get him from Hull at the time if I rememeber rightly.

Marlon Broomes worth a shout? Not sure on his height, but if I remember his a fairly dominant defender and has bags full of experience.

I'd love us to get Darren Purse, tough old-fashioned centre back, experienced, good replacement for Clarke and would continue the trend of skinhead centre-backs. Doig or Duberry would be good too.

Looking at left-backs, not a great choice it's mainly released youth players. Only ones who caught my eye were Robert Eagles from Norwich (who according to his history played with our reserves), Dean Holden and Andrew Whing from Brighton.
