Reading between the lines of Frannos interview on Blues World.

Barrett will be first out the door i reckon and will sign for a London club that may be in the championship next year or still in div 1 !!!

It would be interesting to find out who, amongst the people saying payment of wages isn't vital, have mortgages and families and who still live at home with mum and dad.

im not saying it isnt vital at all, far from it, I have no doubt at all that morale would have been on the floor, surely tho in an era of 2.5 mil unemployed, many of the population working jobs they dont care for on minimum wage (for whatever reason), footballers are still in an envious position. and even div 1 players earn the same or in most cases more then your average person. im not going to repeat the points I made about why i thought personal pride etc should have played more of a part, I was merely trying to say that despite off the field factors its blatantly obvious even to the most rose tinted fan that our current squad is severely lacking in quality compared to other recent squads
and just for the record yes i have those bills to pay!

Didnt Grant sign a three year deal that must have two years to run.

He did, but that doesn't mean that he hasn't been driven to wanting to eave by what has hapened since January. He might have a few years left on his contract, but if he doesn't want to stay anymore then RM will sell him.

My take on all this is ............ Ron is currently all property, no cash. Unfortunately in the current climate ........... cash is king!
My recurring nightmare is striker Paul Benson's Daggers qualify & win thru the Lge2 play-offs, and pass us on the up, as we go down :-(
It's common knowledge Paul was originally lined up to sign for us as his first pro club, after scoring shedloads of goals, playing in local football with White Ensign. After a lot of hot air from Roots Hall (RM), Paul's insistence on a summer retainer (to bridge the gap of leaving his well-paid city job, to put in his first intensive pro pre-season training), was the straw that broke the camel's back, and so he went down the road to Daggers, and the rest is history. The rub is, we were not as worse off for money back then, compared to our current reliance on Sainsburys Bank plc!

If all the players want to leave then we should let them and start again, by signing quality from some of the smaller teams in league 2 ala bailey at barnet.

There is also plenty of good quality players in the BSP who would bust a gut to get a chance in the league at a club like southend.

We need a team of hungry motivated players who will grind out results away from home. The team that got us out of this league had good players but not all were blessed with skill some just worked there ****ing nuts off , which is absoloutely fine by me. The team this year hasnt worked anywhere near hard enough.

What I'm curious about is their financial planning. As a footballer earning (some of them at least) around or over £100k a year, in an industry like football where you could be out of work in a second, you'd think that they would have a fiar bit of money set aside for things like if they got injured and were then out of contract etc. As far as I'm aware, the players all got their money no more than two? months late. Whilst that is not enough, personally, I'd have made some plans financial to cope with not being paid, through whatever circumstance.

Oh, and I haven't been paid this month either.

Francis, Macca, Barrett and Mildy all seem to think they can do a job at a higher level. Im guessing none will be here come the new season.

No shocks really but kind of hurts to see a player actually say it.

Let them go - we will see them for what they are - underachievers and overearners

Hard to argue at the moment.

My only worry is if they all go then it leaves us about five players for the new season. Its a lot of working for Tilly to get 15 odd players in plus its going to be hard to bed them all in as a unit.
