Sankofa has then given Ron a chinese burn and had his contract terminated, Barrett moves to Huddersfield to be reunited with Peter Clarke and this time next year we will be celebrating as Phil Brown leads us to promotion, inspired by 2 signings from Kilmarnock and 30 goals from Harry Crawford.

This lot of players got us relegated from Div 1 and from what I've seen they aren't certs to go up next season.Get rid of them all apart from the kids, Grant,Francis and Baldwin and start again, we desperatley need new blood with a desire to succeed. Not going to happen I know because we cant afford it, so its going to be a long slow process of rebuilding to get the club challenging again. That said I'm right up for Accington Stanley away

apparently AB won't be here next season - he and 7 others will be handing in transfer requests after the Southamton match having become disillusioned at affairs going on behind the scenes (ie Ron Martin) . . . i have it on good authority that AB is orchestrating a move to Huddersfield

I also understand from the same source that AB recently went to see Martin about certain issues - it is alleged that Ron said something along the lines of 'Adam, i thought better of you as a player . . . F*** Off ' . . . . apparently Mildy went to see Ron afterwards and was also told, in no uncertain terms by Ron, to go forth.

Obviously i can't confirm whether this i true or not, but the source is close to the club.

Have heard very similar about the players putting in transfer requests.

Apart from Francis , i can't imagine many clubs rushing to snap up much of a squad that has just proven itself not good enough to stay in league 1 , and if these players really and truly believe they are good enough to play at a higher level then why did they not show it this season and keep us up!

Yeah i would , especially if i had thousands of people coming to watch me "work" every week , and if i was hoping to be head hunted by a bigger and better organization .

I take your point about being paid late ,but lets not use that as a total reason for where we are ,and be honest enough to say we were just not good enough .

Total bollocks! When players are having to rely on friends and family for food, mortgage payments or whatever, then you are going to be totally peed off & most of all distracted.

Also, despite players wanting to try their best, when half the team are loanees, you are only going to half a team who could give a toss! In that respect they are almost battling against the apathy shown by the likes of Malone, M'Voto & Vernon to name three guilty parties. Add to that losing Barny who was replaced by a woeful Paterson (yesterday apart!) and JFC who obviously didn't want to be here, then the likes of Macca, Francis, Mildy, Grant & maybe Moussa are stuffed when they have team mates like they have had!

I totally agree, the players were not blameless in this whole situation and we weren't good enough, I was just saying it certainly wasn't helping matter by the players being paid late.

Barrett has been club legend,but IMO never worth the alleged wage he is on and agree with other posters that he is probaly not good enough now for a big league one side,so if he did leave i think he would have to take a drop in wages.Would be better to sell Macca and Francis reinvest money and save on wage bill.

its obvious that the wages debacle was a huge factor in morale, but come on there hardly going down the mines! there playing football which is a dream job for most of us, wheres the personal pride as well? surely as a human being you want to do well for yourself, wheres the respect for the fans, no fans no football! and you would think that half of them would have enough brains to realise that if they want away from southend they need to perform to get the job they want?
morale or no morale there wasnt enough talent in the squad to stay up. our league 1 winning team would have thumped this lot, wages or no wages.

A captain is entitled to stand up and speak on behalf of his team mates, but to then have an obscenity or two thrown at him by the club's own Chairman is belittling and humiliating and could be the straw that brke the camel's back.

Unfortunately, I believe you WILL see players handing in transfer requests. AB, Granty, Mildy, Macca......all as recently as 2 weeks ago were, I heard, still fuming. I hear that Granty and AB are unsure about being here next season but are leaning towards not, so we'll just have to wait and see what happens. But trust has been broken and I don't think it can be regained.
