Reading between the lines of Frannos interview on Blues World.

The Business
Francis, Macca, Barrett and Mildy all seem to think they can do a job at a higher level. Im guessing none will be here come the new season.

No shocks really but kind of hurts to see a player actually say it.

Don't want Barrett to go, the rest I'm not too bothered about, could be replaced on cheaper wages

Yeah I know what you mean mate. Well lets look at it this way, 1 of them 4 players probably will stay. And even if all 4 of them go, we will still have a decent league two team, plus hopefully Tilson can get in a few players from I don't know where.
Would love to see a team something like this in League two.

Jack

Francis/Sankofa Baldwin Barrett Herd

Laurent O'Keefe Grant Moussa

Spencer Crawford/Paterson

That side would not be good enough to beat a pub side.

I wouldn't lose sleep over any of them leaving.

But, will many sides at a higher level be interested in Adam Barrett? I'm not sure.

Hopefully we offer Scannell a new contract which he signs. He could be a diamond in League Two.

From what I've heard, that is the tip of the iceberg. They will all go, new clubs willing to pay a fee hiked up by TefRon, along with the two Frenchies and maybe another couple of players.

It was sad seeing the last home game for the last of the brief glory years players. :'(

The King is dead, long live the King, is the only way to view it.

Bit of an exaggeration, but I do agree, if you want to gain promotion, you can't rely on teenagers (or only just out of their teens) up front to get you enough goals, I can't see O'keefe commanding the centre of midfield, and I'd like to see Scannell rather than Laurent. And what you're basing Jack being the keeper on, I don't know, he hasn't even played 5 minutes.

From this squad, realistically I'd like to see:

GK
Francis/Sankofa (if francis goes) Barrett Baldwin Herd
Scannell Grant CM Moussa
Spencer ST (an experienced goalscorer, ala goater!)

They were the ones I cared remotely about. The French lads can go happily for my mind. Only one I would keep would be M Voto and that clearly wont happen..

Can't see how Geoffrey King in goal, Carmen Miranda in midfield and Tilly up front is going to do for us next season.

If we could build a team round Barrett, Grant and Moose we will have a decent nucleus. Franno will go, I think Pato, Crawford and Spencer will do well in League and Scannell if he can stay fit. We need around 12 new players, which is a big ask for Ron to get the money and for Tilly and his limited scouting network to get in.
Lets face it the way Ron has treated the players and undermined Tilly at every step, itd be a surprise if any of the team or management are here come August.

Who would have thought you'd be saying that about Mvoto six weeks ago whe he clearly wasn't fit and to be honest we made the bloke look like a mug.

Since he came in against Brentford he's looked solid.

i genuinely believe if mvoto hadnt got injured early doors we would have stayed up he was looking a class apart at the beginning of the season

I go along with that but also thought that the loss of Scannell and the suspension of Moussa played a big part in knocking us back, just as we entered into the final series of critical matches. Of course there were many other, well publicised reasons, for our demise but even then, I feel that, with just a little more luck with injuries or suspensions could have been enough to save us.
I've listened to both post match interviews with Francis and Tilson. Thought that Tilly is fearing the worst, with a fairly large exodus of players, that he will have to replace. Francis was a bit more pragmatic although he tended to back up the general assumption that there will be departures. Certainly, for him, he would be interested to listen to any offers that may come in, although he was careful not to rule out the possibility that he may be here next season...........as he has a year to run on his contract.
Just hope for all our sakes, that any departures will happen as soon as possible...........and not at the last minute.........so as we at least have time to look for alternatives. Let's look on the bright side, if we are obliged to start the next season with the bluebelles in midfield........we may not win many games but at least we will be more attractive to watch.

Can anybody post what Franno actually said?

From memory:

A number of the players still feel they are either championship or league one players. He, Macca and AB have now played in two relegation sides so he wonders if they are a jinx. He signed as a championship player and gave impression he feels he is too good for L2 (fair call).

Said he was still contracted to the club and has a season left so he wll have to see what happens in the summer.

Macca said pretty much the same. Gave impression however he would be prepared to play L2. Said he has had four great seasons and would be happy to get a 5th however the chairman has said he needs to reduce wage bill and Macca like all players wants to play at the top level.

Had a lengthy chat before the game with Adam Barrett. The main points of interest were:-

1. He doesnt' want to leave the club, he loves it here. However, he found it very tough being paid late due to other financial committments and therefore has to think of himself if it happens again. He is settled in the area and moving would be a last resort. He did promise me though if he does leave it won't be to Col Ewe....

2. He doesn't expect any of the loanees to stay. Said he would like Baldwin to stay, but he has 2 years on his Col Ewe deal and good wages, which we are unlikely to pay.

3. No alleged bust up with Martin, but did say there is 'a big gap' between the football and the board room.

4. To Adam's knowledge, no players are engineering moves away from the club, and all are happy here. But if the club accepts bids for them in the Summer then they will probably go. (Hmmmm.....)

And something else I heard yesterday from somebody who had a meet with Geoff King:-

1. This is a direct quote from King "I am a hard nosed business man who doesn't care less about the football" - Once the stadium is open and we are in, he plans to leave the club board ( )

2. Wages budget for season just gone was 2.3 million, next seasons budget = 1.3 million!!
