sadly wearing my retired social worker hat Nile has zero chance of not being in exactly the same situation in the future unless he ditches his current friends and associates. "Go on Nile have one, no one will know".
What he needs is a strong woman to sort him out. In my experience this is the one and only thing that makes a real difference to wayward young men. The club and manager can only do so much.

Needs a strong woman ?
Although i'd love to disagree (as i'd like to think i'm my own man and king of my castle)...you're probably right :winking:

The word 'disrespect' is he one which is in my head here. I advocate rehabilitation but as has been said before in this thread, there is only so much that can be done for people, the rest is up to them. I am not sure NR has the attitude to rehabilitate. The good name of our beloved Club must come above all else. Players come and players go, the Club goes on. Rant over. COYBB

He is not the brightest button in the box but one day could be worth literally millions to the club you all claim to support.

I wish all the self righteous, pompous idiots who jump to condemn our players and staff would bog off.

You honestly believe that a complete idiot who plays a handful of games in years will ever be worth millions?
Nile Ranger has scored FIVE (5) goals in THREE (3) years! He is worth minimum wage!!

Far from convinced that somebody reported him, would imagine the drugs testers visit quite a lot of clubs around the Christmas period.

At the end of the day, if he's done the drugs then he was the idiot to put himself in a situation where he can be found out, whether he was reported or not.

If NR was not seen as the savior of Southend promotion push, we would not care a jot weather he be guilty or not. As far as i am concerned Ranger has let the trust the club put in him down, i would rather he left.

The visit must have been on the 9th or possibly 10th January, as The Sun* reports that he took cocaine on the Sunday.

He was in court on the 11th and the 12th would be too late.

The odds on the FA "randomly" testing him seem remote, to me.

*

He might like a strong man.... who knows what goes on behind closed doors.... lyrics to the video I posted earlier... maybe he models himself on this song... http://www.lyricsbadger.co.uk/lyrics/The Shamen/Ebeneezer Goode

I recon Phil still wants him... could he go back to the dressing room if the snake (wrong or right to inform the FA) person is a long standing player? Taking his SUFC info of his twitter bio.... does he dislike the club now? They (we) gave him a chance.

It was said he was not with his old crowd, I don't buy into that, 30 mins up the road in his German Whip.... I'd shove him in The Priory, as an in patient (chelmsford) goes to training and matches then straight back, constant therapy is needed...if he is not prepared to do this, rip up his contract, if he wants to be a pro footballer... he will do it..... (my best post?)

I think if he followed the path of say John White or Simon Cox (in fact all the first team squad) who clearly have dedicated all their waking hours to diet, training etc etc to being the best pro footballer they can, then he could be a really great player. He has the talent but sadly not at the moment the professional commitment. His attitude must be very frustrating to his team mates.

Personally I'd put it to the players. If the players believe in him and they for example know him more than any of us do. They may want to help him. If they say cast aside , I concur. If they want to give him a chance, they are in a better position than us to judge, we still have no idea whatsoever of the turn of events, the fact made even worse that we are using the Sun as our gospel ! The Sun !

If, they agree he should stay and be part of their team spirit they have, then markers should be set down to him, ie moving local and staying local.

I will not judge on something that I have no facts, the people around are better positioned in that respect.

NR has played well twice, perhaps three times this season.
He has been given a chance by our club while the rest of the footy world sneered or rolled up laughing.
The court case was an absolute disgrace but we gave him the benefit of it being in his past.
So how does he thank Southend United and it's fans? He knowingly takes a class A drug in the full knowledge that if found out will lead to a lengthy ban and harm our clubs promotion bid. He wakes up the following day and regrets it? No he takes cocaine! !
His love and respect for Southend United who have supported him is overwhelming and the love of the fans who have given him far more kudos than a couple of very good peromances deserve? He took his trousers down and sh*t on us all.
I am not saying this should necessarily be the end for Nile at Roots Hall (though he could hardly complain)...but the "its ok" reaction is ridiculous.
Unless NR is going to give 100% to Southend United both on and off the field - then he can fu€k right off!

i think that's Nile , not the posters on here

Have just read the full report, so he took MDMA on the Saturday and cocaine on the Sunday, so it's clearly not even a one off. For his own good, sack him and give him the basis to sort his life out.

Bit like Ryan Hall and Michael Timlin, who actually went to prison for offences committed.

Yep he has been stupid,he is meant to be a professional athlete where people pay money to watch him play football !

He snorted silly drugs,he is dumb BUT should he be cast aside for taking a substance?

My take is...if he does it again then sack him immediately ....if he does any other law breaking then sack him.

Will he ever learn, who knows...up to the club what action they take...I hope they give him another chance because what he has done if true isn't exactly crime of the century...one more strike though and my sympathy goes.

It could have been an all-night party and therefore in one-sitting so to speak.

Not that it excuses it, but a binge party ahead of a serious court case and therefore the thought that he might not play for a few weeks may have swayed his fragile thinking over that weekend.

I think that clearly proved he has already turned a corner as he didn't take anything on the Monday !

Nile at the party...takes gear at 10pm....then takes more gear at 1201am(Sunday)....the sun.

Why did he not do a Rio Ferdinand and have a sudden appointment and drive off .....

Funny to confess to Brown before the test

oh well - if he was at training ground boozed up or hung over it would have been all ok

so doesnt being involved in defrauding a vulnerable adult count as the 'one more strike' already? He's a crazy individual to throw redemption away as quickly as he has.
