To be fair, I was quoting from the Evening Echo article that Yogi shared, not the Sun newspaper.

But i'm guessing from the amount of spelling errors etc that are usually in the echo, there's not much between them.

Indeed mate, but my understanding was the Echo picked the story up from The 'Scum' tabloid. The 'Scum' have been after Ranger for a long time, they constantly dig up his previous allegations (they ran a story when we signed him) and would not surprise me if they were the 'snakes' that Jason Williams tweeted about?

Don't get me wrong, I am not in any way condoning Rangers (alleged) actions, but we need to have the facts in writing from The FA or the Club before it would appear that the recriminations can really be understood.

Which professions would he be struck off? As I know of several where illegal recreational drugs are rife.

Ranger's previous incursions were before he was a SUFC player and I won't condone violence or homophobia, but this time he's just been stupid.
.

Fire Brigade and Police for starters. The LFB have also have an alcohol limit which is about half that of the drink-drive limit.

That's not to say it doesn't happen of course....Just don't get caught.

Think there is a lot more going on than just the drug thing. A friend (east stand ST holders) friend lives in the flat below Ranger. Apparently its been a nightmare, constant playing of music very loudly and into the late hours. Also Ranger has been having constant rows with his girlfriend which has also involved police being called to the premises. He has made complaints to the club who have been trying to help etc. Wonder if this also has something to do with his club suspension and the drug thing is the FA issue

maybe he thinks the club should give him a big detatched house to live on in, so he can make all the noise and party all night, as he reckons he is so special.

This is what the Club have to say on Ranger according to the Echo this morning:

SOUTHEND United have yet to decide whether or not to stand by striker Nile Ranger. The 25-year-old has been suspended by Blues pending the results of an FA hearing which is understood will be completed this week. A club spokesman told Echosport that Ranger’s future remains up in the air pending a decision by the football authorities,
And he also questioned the accuracy of reports in the national media which claimed Ranger had taken a recreational drug. “Any decision by the club surrounding Nile’s future will be made when we know the outcome of the FA inquiry,” said the spokesman.

“However, we can say from what the FA has confirmed to date that the position as reported in the national press is not accurate.
"Southend United will only come to a decision when all the facts are available and The FA decision is to hand”
Ranger, who joined Blues at the start of the season and has scored three goals in 15 games, signed an extended three and half year deal at the start of December.
However, he has not featured since starting the 4-2 defeat against Sheffield United on Saturday January 7.

if the sun was talking way out of line, it would be a legal case against them... saying someone is a drug user, who is not is defamation of character ((if he has one!!!! )) saying just questions against the accuracy could mean anything...about any part of the story.

I am sure that The Sun will have tested the report via their legal department.

In any event I'm not sure that The Sun or Shrimperzone is really that bothered about the facts ............. let's just get on and discuss what we think might or might not have happened using local "sauces" such as the barber and greengrocer to add some colour and spice here and there and reinforce our own point of view/bigotry etcetera ......... it's much more interesting that way.

If he did or did not get caught taking drugs .The fact is he new the club rules he broke them .The club and fans he said he had taken to heart .Then this well sorry its true a leopard really doesn't change its spots .So I doubt Nile will ever go straight .Either by design or the wrong choice of people to hang around with .

Nile Ranger… Noisy Neighbour!

It even rhymes

I would rather devote 100% of my support to the likes of Dave Mooney upfront as frustrating as he can be, but a player I [we] and the club can rely on.

Oh dear ...... I was all for getting shot of the ungrateful and selfish (and lots of other less polite adjectives) Ranger, now you've made me think again !

We got 10 points (and 10 goals) from the 13 League matches Mooney's appeared in. Most assuredly relegation form.

We got 36 points (and 33 goals) from the 16 matches he didn't appear in, that's 103 over a full season!

Stats don't always tell the full story but they can often be a good indicator.

No, despite that I'm still for binning Ranger.

What a dilemma !!! Can see both sides of the argument here but the full facts have not yet been revealed. I'm sure the club will make the right decision when it must .............................................Just such a shame NR with the talent he's got chooses to be so weak, selfish and stupid but he's young. Season sounds over for him at the very, very least.

I reckon Nile is more of a West stand kind of guy, in with TBV. Reckon he'd let off a few smoke bombs

I know Nile has done some really stupid stuff in his life, but surely even he wouldn't be that stupid.

bit of an instagram update - he's commented on one of Cox's photos, and his last photo was liked by Lenny, MAF and McGlashan.
