More of that simple analysis for you ............

In the league games Ranger has started in ..........

Sheffield Utd - 3 points
Chesterfield - 3 points
Bradford - 1 point
MK Dons - 3 points
Bury - 3 points

Southend United - with Nile Ranger - played 5 - 13 points - 2.6 per game

Southend United - without Nile Ranger - played 12 - 10 points - 0.8 per game

I rest my case (again) m'lud.

Yes, I think he is great, we rely on a player who has fitness doubts (he has not played for a few years) way too much, we need another decent striker.

No but I have them in my subbuteo team and they work well together ..............

Ah, Subbuteo...

My Southend United Subbuteo team (the navy shirts) came to grief at the point of the Great Subbuteo Stadium Disaster of 1970, when my father, in attempting to access a high cupboard, toppled off a stall in my bedroom and landed in a yelping, sprawling heap in the middle of my pitch. in addition to the loss of a grandstand and goal frame, there were many casualties on the field of play. Fortunately, most were able to resume their careers by having their leg-length reduced and the application of araldite. If only this technique were available to the modern player, careers could be extended almost indefinitely - albeit they may become less effective as they become shorter.

LOL

Not forgetting the many MIA players who slid underneath fridges and behind ovens during that era.

And now played 6 - 16 points.

Class act on the pitch and I've now heard first hand from 2 People inside the club that think he is a very nice chap off the field too , very polite , gets on well with everyone and is just a little misguided .
Let's hope this is true and is on field actions speak for themself

Seems to be the case.

He did an interview for the Sun that was posted online last night, for those that haven't seen it, I have posted the link below:

His head is in a very good place from what I have heard. He's staying away from bad influences and places. He really appreciates Southend giving him a chance. So it's just the fitness thing. He seems injury prone at the moment, hopefully that will stop if he gets to play about 5 games on the trot.

I watched him warming up today and he had huge smile on his face. Looks very happy and content to be here. Thought he was trying a tad to hard today, a little too eager to please. That to my mind was why he missed a chance in the first half. He has the makings of a very good front man within the next few years. He is only going to get better with game time. A great find in my opinion.

I am not going to knock the lad - he is putting his life back together, playing with a smile and is back on track. That is all good. I love watching him play.

But we all know the real test will come when things are not going so well - let's hope he "keeps it together" in tough times as well as good times - then the lad will have become a man.

I thought he was rubbish on Saturday. His stats don't add up either. In his last 1 match he hasn't even scored. That's 0%. I can't believe we've wasted money on a complete waster.

Ok, he held the ball up well, and allowed the rest of the team to play off him, but strikers are judged solely on goals, and for that reason he should be dropped.

Apparently Rangers injury is worse than Cox's & he is going for a scan later today.

Not sound promising

Hopefully just Jedi mind tricks by PB...

used to work for Fergie when he was at Manure - star players injured, oh no - he's playing Saturday.

If it the injury PB said it was then even if its a strain its normally 4 weeks. Maybe we/he will be lucky and its 2 but will be very lucky to be back for the Xmas /New Year games unfortunately. Cox is a groin injury and often with an injection you can manage that unless it a bad one. Coker you will remember got through half a season with his- but it doesn't make you play better.

Suspect they will try and get Cox fit to play alongside Fortune (hoping to get away with giving Cox 60 mins a game maybe) until Ranger is back mid Jan. Trouble is the games are close together and hasn't this been a bit of a niggling injury with Cox? Think he's tweaked it before now?

PB said in the EE that as both had come off as soon as they felt the injuries, that they may have stopped doing any serious damage. Fingers crossed that this is the case....
