What did he say.... "Boss you need to drop me and make Anton captain, otherwise we are definitely in a relegation battle"

Actually, it would not surprise me at all if he said that. He probably said thanks for giving me another year's contract but I'm well passed my best by date and now that you signed Anton having two old codgers at the back is never going to work. Any fool can see that except you Phil. Go back to 442 and try and win games instead of trying not to lose. Anton and Cox probably said the same. Other wise you will get the sack Phil

Phil will of course take all the kudos and glory.

If there was this supposed "meeting" between the manager and senior/experienced players after the Rochdale match, then that's a good thing and a good way to manage.

It's often a balancing act between having to tell players what to do and at the same time listen to their concerns.

I'd rather hear that the players had had a clear the air meeting with the manager, than he was stubbornly refusing to listen.

At the same time, if you have players that make demands, then they have to be handled slightly differently and maybe shipped out, if they cause more harm than good.

All in all, the change to 4-4-2 and being more positive has paid dividends. As many of us hoped and thought it would, but like anything, you need the tools to be available and, lately, that's been the case.

I know Barrett is a club legend but I really doubt during the Rochdale meeting he told Brown that he was past it and should be dropped immediately, that's a stretch even for the 'we win in spite of Brown' crowd.
