Publishing Fixtures

Were they waiting for you when you got to your desk first thing Dave?
Confident the OS (or Premium TV network) won't crash under the strain this year?

Any clue as to 1st game is home or away? Obv don't want to know WHO it is, I can wait 26 minutes!

Network hasn't crashed for abour four years now.

We move the sites on Monday to a high capacity server and this year will be the first year that we can continue to update the websites due to investment in the infrustructure.

You can't really do that either.

You can mention fixtures, like saying 'on the first day we are home to ....., then away to.....

But that's about it.

It's ridiculous, but been around a while.

I thought they had knocked all that legal slobocks on the head, because the fixtures were in the public domain. I'm sure I read that somewhere about a year ago.

But to be fair, this is probably one of the leading boards.

There was a deal where a Club could issue a license to an unofficial site for a nominal fee, but don't know if that still exists.

Other than that, if SZone wanted to publish the fixtures, the license is in the region of £10,000. I kid you not.

You wait until you see our first month, I can't wait!

I know, it was a bit of a turn up when the premier league decided not to relegate Sheff Utd and then the championship decided to reprieve us. Still Palace and Charlton away in the first month isn't bad.

Well SZ got an official warning 2 years ago I think it was, so lets just say we might be high up on their lists of ones to check!

Are we allowed to talk about the matches by name or do we have to refer to them as "last Saturday" or "Just before Christmas but not quite in november"?

its wierd as well, because after xmas they'll be posts where people will be going..

These are our next 11 fixtures, i think the points return will be

Thomas (h) 3pts
Edward (a) 1pt
Henry (h) 3 pts
Gordon (a) 0pts
James (a) 3pts
Percy (h) 3pts
Toby (h) 1 pt
Duck (a) 0 pts
Donald (h) 3 Pts
Douglas (a) 1 pt
Oliver (h) 3 pts

and yet there is no problem with listing fixtures then?

(yes they are thomas the tank engine trains in order 1-11!)

I'd say you are OK to say "Tranmere is last away game of the season in April", but couldn't list say the first six games for example!

How about retrospectively? Are the rights to the fixtures as valuable as the rights to the results? Should players be consulted before we refer to them, particularly if we criticise them? How about grounds? Maybe we should just make up some sort of code that doesn't mention either clubs or dates.

PS, I was trying to take the mick out of the ridiculous rights situation but reading it again, it does look like a serious question!
