In fact, as posters who've been around here longer than you might remember I had a very interesting run in with a group of "supporters" at Donny Xmas 07 for how well they backed Macdonald & Harrold.

Last player I didn't want associated with SUFC was Foran, I said he would be bad news 2 days before he signed and so it proved...

Nobody who has had the "pleasure" to be close to me at a Southend game will say I don't support the team!

So why are you getting on Blair Sturrock's back already? So what if Paul Sturrock signs his son for whoever he manages. He is the manager and has brought success to every club he has been at (except Southampton) and I think he knows what he is doing seeing as he is a football manager by profession.

If he plays 10 games and starts all of them, isn't subbed off and gets the nod over other players and doesn't score or have any good games then get on his back. But give it a rest.

Answer me this then, fountains of all knowledge, IF our club had not had it's good name dragged through the mud this past 13 months and we had been relegated purely for football reasons, Tilson not been disgustingly removed from his position but then deciding our Plan A to get out of League 2 would be to sign Blair Sturrock, a so-called professional footballer who let's face facts makes Douglas Bader look mobile, then 99.9% of this board would be spitting blood!

Ron should go and tour his illusionist act the way you lot have been taken in.

Better to sound like Wiggy, who at least continues to believe in what "she" thinks is right for SUFC, than a bunch of mindless sycophants who have been dazzled by the Emporers New Clothes...

Nah, you are spot on. If Tilson had signed Sturrock I would not be happy. It would just be another in a long line of strikers Tilson couldnt get the best out of most probably.

The fact Paul Sturrock has signed him is totally different - a) he believes in him (Tilson wouldnt have the same affinity) and b) BS wants to play for Paul - again, I doubt BS would have the same affinity for Tilson.

So all in all, it goes from a below average signing to one that will give that extra 10-20% due to who he is playing under.

You could clearly see last night, EVERY SINGLE player wants to play for Paul Sturrock and give 110%. You couldnt say the same for Tilson, especially the arse end of last season.

Thats why its different.

I cant speak for anyone else, but I always try to back the players as much as I can - I vocally supported Revell and Paynter when nobody else would give them a chance.

All I am saying is what I saw of Sturrock Friday, it doesnt look like the worst signing in the world - given the situation of the club, the non-payment of wages etc, we should be overjoyed that players are wanting to come here and play for US, the fans of the club.

It would be so disingenuous to get on the back of them already surely?!

The last 3 or 4 pages of this thread are pure crap tbh. If you're all fickle enough to be tricked by smoke and mirrors, while this club continues to die, then, you get what you deserve.

I think you'd have difficulty proving legally what is basically a thought process.
In the old days, checking for a wedding ring would be one of the first 3 or 4 things I'd do when I spyed a girl I was interested in...

Well firstly i am not a troublemaker, i love Southend and for as long as i live i will support them, whatever league were in i'll still be there and to be honest when Ron comes out and admits what hes done i'll drop it and i also saw you tonight come out i was standing next to Trueblue

Well you'll only do that by putting your money into the club. If you only go to the away matches you'll be following Southend, not supporting them, and your money will go to Aldershot, Barnet, Morecambe, Lincoln, etc etc
