Promotion and relegation 2019/20 season

I suspect once the EFL hands the Prem money over they are concerned the chairman will stop toeing the line & want the season to finish. Hence, they are withholding. Difficult to believe a league would behave in this way against such a backdrop but maybe we have to reconcile ourselves to the fact this is where we are at..
Agree thats what they are doing

Clubs should and some are discussing this very subject and there are a few who believe they should hard ball the league buy saying doesn’t matter if the season ends now or not we are going to the wall and will file so in the next how ever many days. It’s disgraceful from the EFL but then I guess sit is the fear of legal actions from parites, but they could head all that off if they managed them selves nd the situation in an open wat

Dutch just announced their league finished no promotions and relegations more pressure on our FA to follow
There is a question over who goes to European competitions as per UEFA guidelines for the Dutch now, as had to be decided on sporting merit i think

as for us seems EPL preparing for a May 9th return to training and the EFL a week later

Won’t be happening- more fantasy

You can't please everybody, and you certainly shouldn't be basing decisions on who is most likely to sue.
UEFA can wait, and we can suss that out later. The Dutch canning it shows not every league is going to risk things for them.
The more it drags on the more I don't care, not the more desperate I'm getting.
If our option is end it or behind close doors games then for all but a handful of clubs at the top of the game then the former is less impactful financially.
I literally don't care which league we are in next season, I care only that we exist.

I agree not everyone will be happy.

for me I just think if you promote teams others should be relegated, you can have criteria for both.

in my mind some one will look To legal action somewhere, in Holland it is said AZ are looking at there legal options.

That shows the selfishness that runs through football. There should be no place for itin a situation like this.

Of course it does. Similar to any vote that takes place as to what should happen. Those at the bottom will say void, those at the top wil, want a PPG average or results as is and those in the middle won’t care and will be swayed either way. It’s not going to be correct for everyone anyway they go.

the Dutch were ballsy they made the decision without asking clubs from what I can see, but if Germany or England start training and get to the point where they can play (very unlikely) the AZ will persue it I reckon, less teams in their division and they will go with if they can we can. Yes it is wrong but sadly that is football at all levels these days

I doubt AZ will find a legal option.

I think football has to give serious consideration to the fact that the seasons may not return to normal until 2021/22 at the earliest. Until they find a vaccine, all it needs is one player to get Covid-19 and the whole squad is in quarantine. If no vaccine is found, then it will be even longer and the problem here is that it is an unknown virus and we don't have enough info yet to know EXACTLY how it is transmitted, how long it stays alive on different surfaces for and what it mutates to.

Most viruses mutate to a less contagious/deadly form, but if this one is different then we could all be in serious trouble. And a sobering thought... HIV and the common cold are viruses that have no vaccines.

But let's say we find a vaccine - they have to test it and it usually takes about 8-10 years to get vaccine's approved as safe. So here they would fast track everything through, test different stages at the same time and it is conceivable that - if they found a vaccine that worked, then by the end of the year, something MAY be ready.

But suppose it transpired that the vaccine actually proved ineffective, or actually made things worse? Some vaccines do, subject to your existing conditions.

It's a minefield and until it is known that the effects will be no more than normal flu, then I doubt we will see an end to social distancing measures and quarantine restrictions.

You cannot bring football back until we are that point.

Dont think i am saying they should i am saying they are considering it.

I have said before I work in the UK football industry and I know of multiple clubs considering their options and are waiting to see what happens.

I can’t comment on vaccines, and anykind of illness as i have no information on those that i can accurately relay.

But as i have always said it comes down to money at all levels sadly.

my main thought tyrying to be urethral and not put my love of SUFC at the forefront is that if you promote teams on certain criteria’s then surely you have to do the opposite end of the table too, otherwise integrity goes out the window.

Maybe, in order to resolve the relegation and promotion spots, stop the season right now.

Then, for example, the team 24th in League 1 plays the team top of League 2, the team 23rd in League 1 plays the team 2nd in League 2 and the team 22nd in League 1 plays the team 3rd in League 2 all over 2 legs (home and away) - the teams that win over the 2 matches have a place in League 1 for next season - the teams that lose play in League 2

Oh, I don't disagree. And you can't promote/relegate teams based on what might happen with 10 games left.

And yes, it is all down to money. And football, with an absolutely HUGE amount in the game (most of it at the very top) is showing itself up to be the grubby, corrupt sport that unfortunately it is.
