With our lack of players upfront, has there been any rumours about Akinfenwa coming here? Is he still a free agent?

Kane Hemmings would be an interesting prospect. Just released from Rangers. Scored a load at Tamworth a couple of years ago and had a decent loan spell in the Scottish First Division a couple of months ago (at Cowdenbeath I think....). Rumoured to be looking to move back to England.

Exactly, we gave trials to Ricky Holmes before and also Paul Benson. They obviously didn't rate them or thought they would fit in.

Considering they were 'cutting back' and released a number of good players themselves. Its an odd one!

Don't understand why we aren't trialling Josh Rees. Been at Arsenal for several years and he's only 19. Was on loan at Brentford last season, and Middlesbrough have recently reportedly showed an interest in signing him. Been offered a 10 day trial at Cheltenham but he would surely at least consider joining us being a local.

Rated Grimes a couple of years ago - he couldn't stop scoring for Lincoln (including one against us) ...... but he seems to have gone off the boil recently. But yes, I would have said he was an option ...... lucky old Bury (perhaps).

I wonder why SUFC dont seem to take any notice of people from overseas when they inform the club of young talentin their own countries,well if they do surely they at least could respond to that person ,as im sure they leave their email address with the email they post to SUFC.Its the least they could do, that also goes for you people there who also inform them of local talent, least theycould do is reply and say thanks.FIFA take the time to reply and they are bigger then SUFC.

I remember years ago my colleague sent letters to all the football league clubs recommending her brother, a winger who was playing for the Met Police. Rob Newman was one of the only ones to reply, saying we had enough right wingers but best of luck, etc.

Brown has made no secret of the fact he wants a left winger, just occurred to me that it's gone a bit quiet on the Ben Reeves front.

A midfield of:

Reeves - Timlin - Laird - Hurst

Would surely be up there with the best midfields in the league?! Anyone know anything about the chances of getting Reeves or whether it's out the question?

i personally don't see him as much of a winger , more of a CAM IMO

I see reeves best suited in an advanced midfield role! Technically good enough for it in this league! I do want us to sign him, but I think we need a proper pacey winger out left because we have lacked pace on the wings. Hurst is a good player but hasn't got outright pace I think we need!
