Players who have been 'forced out' of the club who we wouldn't mind having right now

Isn't it strange how a number of the players that were perceived as poor play a hell of a lot better at other clubs? Doesn't this say more about us than them (supporters, formation, manager even?). Hooper as a case in point.

We've been playing a pretty awful style of football for a few years now which will make a lot of players look a darn sight worse than they actually are.

Indeed. Players that knew each others game inside out. The amount of money we could have saved or just spent on a quality forward to take the place of Goater eh? We could have scraped survival and then built from there and MAYBE be in the same position as Swansea and Forest rather then battling for survival in a lower league with the likes of Stockport & Wycombe.

That title winning squad is one I will always look back on with great memories, but you have to remember 18/24 months earlier they was playing the likes of Rochdale, Chester and Crewe, then was about to take on the likes of Stoke, Sunderland and Ipswich. Massive, massive difference.

The players played at their maximum for about 95% of the season, and carried on the form from League Two. I don't think many of them could have cut it, and Tilson did the right thing in trying to improve the squad.

The likes of Francis coming in for Hunt, Hammell for Wilson, Ricketts for the retiring Goater. All made perfect sense, but it just didn't happen for us.

I agree with EastStandBlue about Guttridge. What a fantastic player he was, him and Maher in the middle was a dream to watch. Two fantastic passes of a ball, with a solid back line behind them, and a potent attack in front of them. Now, where did I put my League One winning DVD...

Hunt - better than Sankofa

Richards, Sodje - proper dominating centre halves which we dont have now.

Guttridge, Sawyer, Maher and Bentley - all better than the dross we have in midfield now.

Pretty much any striker we have ever had of note is more than we have now. Gray, Hooper, Paynter, Clarke to name a few.

Evidently some of the above were 'forced' out because of a bad attitude so they wouldn't be welcome now. However if we are talking ability then they would.
