I really believe that our team spirit this campaign has meant us being a better team than the sum of its parts. There are consistent contributions from Cox, Coker, Thomson, Atkinson and Furlong while others like McLaughlin, McGlashan and Robinson have also added a lot at different points of the campaign. However, there are three players who have dramatically added to our performance levels almost every time they've been fit and available - to the extent that we often seem to be in trouble when we miss their contribution. These players are Ranger, Leonard and Ferdinand.

While it might be unfair to Leonard, the two areas needing most strengthening were attack and defense where Ranger and Ferdinand have been little short of transformational. For me, that puts them out in front. And due to consistency over the season and for giving us the foundation to build everything else on... my vote goes to Anton Ferdinand. Leonard gives us drive. Ranger gives us bite and aggression. But I can't think of many players who have made such a difference to the overall strength of our team more than Anton.

My vote goes to Furlong. He does so much in the background you just don't notice him.:smiles:

I'd be highly suspicious if Furlong did win it......So much so, if he did, I will be calling for a stewards enquiry!

Mutha funkin' player of the year. Awooga.

The year in question was 1993. A good year.

This is a tough call to make; however the first 10 games of the season had little quality to be part of the decision making process; other than The blades away game where Mr Cox and Rangers showed the potential.
My vote is for Anton; he has shown great class and leadership.
I hope all the serious candidates mentioned on this thread are with us next season BUT, IMO, Anton would be the hardest to replace.

Top three for me in no particuar order are Ferdinand, Leonard and Cox. I'm still undecided who I'll end up voting for. Honourable mentions to Thompson and Wordsworth too. What a luxury to have all these choices!

Poll added with the regular players given there's not enough space for them all.

Thompson has just edged it for me over Leonard. His improvement this season has been incredible IMO.

Cox has my vote. A top, top pro and his free kick against Walsall is one of my highlight memories of the season so far. Of course, if Furlong had been added to the poll I would definitely have voted for him. Thanks to SBH for at least giving his name a mention.

Having been to quite a few away games this season Cox and Wordsworth have not performed to their RH levels. In fact both have had some stinkers on the road. Don't get me wrong I'm delighted with both of them this term. However I've always thought that the award should go for what someone brings to the team and consistency and the levels have been set very high this season by Anton, Thommo and Lenny. So for me it has to be one of those 3.

These would be my 3 as well
