Planning Updates- All The Latest Details. 28/03/2022

Encouraging signs emerging for new housing initiatives at Fossetts ( both our site and the adjoining site) . Not yet at the point where a football stadium can be afforded but certainly moving in the right direction .
Cockle43 - With your experience at a high level in local politics would you think there is any possibility of Southend councillors embracing luxury apartments to rent or buy at Roots Hall? We really need top dollar for the sale of our current home to help pay for the new arena. The council properties for rent would then all move to Fossetts instead of being split between Roots Hall and Fossetts . Perhaps it would be more efficient investing for the council to limit its involvement to just the one site. In fact local government didn't feel the need to get involved at all in respect of new stadiums built at either Plough Lane or Kew Bridge station in west London.

Hello - we do remember you, you know! Thins are moving alocely as you say. Long may that continue.

You are right Spaceman . I will now shut up completely for the next 6 months - when I return the position with the stadium will be exactly the same at it is today . We can then continue the discussion we are all having on what is a very important topic . As regards whether I am informed or not I don't think you really know the answer to that .

That did not last long.

Yes , the temptation proved too strong and I was unable to resist . Fans should be aware that their new stadium will only get built if the stance taken over the housing element of the project changes .Plough Lane - 600 luxury apartments , Kew Bridge - 1000 luxury apartments . Our project needs to be more like those stadium projects .Could all Southend fans please support a campaign for luxury living at Roots Hall . It requires a lot of cash to be generated if we intend to do the following:
a) Build the new stadium
b) Provide appropriate infrastructure at Fossets - roads ,sewers etc
c) Repay Ron the monies he has invested in the club over the last 20 years.
I am sorry to say that housing the poor in the community is very praiseworthy but does not cut the mustard where raising project finance is concerned . It is Southend United Football Club that is poverty stricken and we need the help of those people that can afford to live in luxury to help us out in our hour of need. We already have a campaign group called '' FOSSETTS FOR THE PEOPLE '' and we now need a new group called '' ROOTS HALL FOR THE RICH''. Please give your full support to this very worthy cause.

I don’t know what your agenda is, but you freely admit you’re not a fan and that you expect things to go up in smoke (indeed I suspect you hope this will be the case). As such, your use of ’we‘ is disingenuous and I’d advise all Zoners to give your thoughts and suggestions a wide berth.

How about winding your neck in and letting the club, council and the many partners involved proceed as they are currently doing without needing your input on what type of property should go where? I suspect your motivation is personal and financial. Fortunately I’m comforted that your rather odd efforts on Shrimperzone are doomed to be fruitless.

Everything will be fine from now on after I lifted the curse I’d put on the new stadium many many years ago. Ron’s had his comeuppance.

More to the point, I would imagine that luxury housing would produce a lower revenue than what is planned. You may get more per property, but there would be far fewer properties. Moreover, why would anyone want a "luxury" residence there? It wouldn't make sense given the surroundings.

That is really not a very nice thing to say about anyone and certainly that is the case when you don't know the person and so not qualified to venture an opinion . I am a very friendly ghost and my motives are absolutely honest and my actions have always been in the best interests of the football club. I do sponsor the football club but when you get people behaving in the way you do, I may decide to withdraw support . As regards the football stadium I think our fans need to appreciate that our scheme needs to become much more like the successful schemes that have been built elsewhere in the UK . It would be far better to amend the scheme rather than just blindly accept that everything about it is correct .I think in the end sensible people will take my advice because they , like me, believe that 20 years in the planning stage for a stadium is just too long . In future please feel free to ignore me because it is obvious that I am causing you a degree of discomfort. Cheers .

Great, if things are as above board as you say then we can all look forward to you engaging on football-related topics on ShrimperZone, not just this thread which is the one you registered to post in and your focus to date?

Not quite right. I have contributed some ideas on how fans can help the football club become more successful . That was a useful thread but I have certainly not contributed a lot but that is because I find the forum rather unfriendly and indeed hostile- and unfortunately you are the person who represents the zone-owner and has brought that about .What in fact is your official position on this forum ?

But the club doesn't own roots hall, any additional monies raised will goto Ron not the club

Sorry, but you are now taking this thread into an area that is personal rather than pertinent to the thread title and therefore I would ask you to refrain from any further debate on the status of other members.

Obviously, if you find ShrimperZone hostile and/or unfriendly then the ignore function is available to all members whereby you can avoid reading posts by certain posters. As to your comment of sponsorship, well that is a matter between you and SUFC and totally irrelevant to this supporters board.

By all means post, and I hope, enjoy your time on here, but it does seem that you are focused on some contrary views and an agenda which will bring responses,

Yawn.

I'm sure you've built many stadiums and housing estates in that past.

Thanks RHB that's fair but all of us have to accept that we sometimes get told things that we don't like to hear but take the bad news in good grace and move on from it . Nearly 100% of your members did exactly that with me but one person didn't do that . In fact they took the unusual step of resorting to character destruction . All sorts of strange motivations were supposed to be in play which are entirely misplaced . It may be the case that you are a friend or colleague of that person -, I simply don't know but I will deal with the situation in my own way because its not going to happen ever again. I hope John fully understands what I am saying here.

You are quite right Matt but just take your thinking one step further. One of our big problems is that Ron hasn't got the money he needs to get the stadium built . So, what helps him will also help us get what we want . Also, we cannot be absolutely sure that Ron will himself ever build this stadium. For example It might be someone else that steps in should Ron decide to sell up. We need a huge pot of money in place to get this stadium project really moving forward at pace.

ALERT- ALL SPACEMEN - MAINTAIN ORBIT - IGNORE GHOST.
This is supposed to be where homes England come in with the £30m financing. I have no idea though if that is a done deal or has been withdrawn
