Phil Brown on 5 Live Sports Extra Tonight

Just been watching Phil Brown on Football Focus broadcast from Hull, surely if he was 100% committed to us he would have driven further up the North-East coast to watch next weeks opponents Oxford playing at Hartlepool. OK, we probably have someone at that game but you would have thought Brown would have chosen to be there himself if his heart was in his job at SUFC.

Agreed. Still calming down after his post match comments about Mark Phillips and then find he has wasted no time in legging it up to Hull. Maybe hes not being payed so needs bbc money to help ends meet!!

Or maybe, just maybe he thought he might go and spend a bit of time with his family, who still live "oop North" so his daughter doesn't forget she's got a dad!!! For goodness sake, the guy is allowed to do stuff other than simply being the Southend manager, I'm quite sure he'll have someone at Hartlepool watching Oxford, if he's not had Oxford watched recently. He has a successful media career, Ron knew this when he appointed him.

Why are you counting last seasons games as well? We all know when PB took charge there was NOTHING to play for, and that wasn't PB's fault and you know it!! That was your hero's fault!!!

We still had the play offs to play for when PB took charge. The fact is we played worse once he took over. Even if we had nothing to play for, a managers stats don't go only on games when there is something to play for. Stupidest comment ever.

Personal insult aside, what position were we when Brown took over? Mathematically there was every chance we could have reached the play-offs. It was a last ditch attempt by RM to employ someone to get us promoted that season, as stated by RM himself. If we had no chance of promotion, why sack Sturrock and appoint Brown? Why had Brown been unemployed for 18 odd months and failed as numerous interviews for jobs?

Try to think more before posting insults when in actual fact, the posts you make are only really insulting yourself.

We were dropping like a stone with Sturrock but Brown didnt change that when he started.

You can certainly count those games, but when its harsh to judge a manager when he hasnt been able to bring his own players in.

No need to look at last years form, this seasons is speaking volumes on its own.:'(

Your intimation was that a managers stats can only be counted when they have games that mean something and that for any game where there is nothing at stake, these results don't count towards the managers stats. Now that is a pretty ridiculous statement, I think you must agree. From my perspective, that is pretty much the stupidest post I have read. This doesn't mean that YOU are stupid, but the comment was stupid. However, your post stated that I was more of an idiot than you had credited you for. Indeed, there were two reasons Brown was brought in when he was, to try to push us into the play offs, and to get a head start on this season. I always said I wouldnt judge him until this season and he has almost had his 10 games and so far, not so good.

The perverse thing is Im enjoying the games more (Morcambe aside) even though results arent coming.
