PG Site Services on Twitter again

Don't undesrtand all this talk of a five year deal. PG Services signed up for a three year deal according to the official club site announcement last year, so presumably there were options to renew or not at the end of this season.
Maybe the wodge of cash they gave ron extended the deal?

Maybe, but then, as I gently explained to salespeople many times over the years, a 3 year deal with a break clause after 1 year is in fact a 1 year deal…

Boring shirt sponsor, Boring logo, Boring Twitter feed… Even the thread about the sponsor on SZ is BORING!!!

Why have we never been able to get a decent local shirt sponsor? Especially when we have so many long standing large and established local employers, such as Olympus Keymed, BAE Systems, Ford Motor Company, CNH, Leonardo Electronics, Raytheon and Teledyne e2v to name but a few… or even Rossi Ice cream, which would be very cool!

Surely we could do better than a (not even local) plant hire firm. If we are to get new owners I’d be aiming high, and get a decent sponsor. Not one that makes us look like a Sunday league team.

your forgetting that these businesses have operated in the area for some time and know about ron martin...

You also have to factor in that sadly the bulk of southend give zero ****s about sufc, its always been that way, what is it? About 3% of the towns population that come to games? The rest are glory hunting the london clubs or just see roots hall and sufc as a bit of a joke. it could change if we get a nicer ground as it will bring some of the part timers to come out.

Youve also got to argue what the point is.

Aside from a pair of hi tec trainers i had in 1984 ive never bought anything fron any of our sponsors.

But i assume its all a tax write off anyway?

i do think Rossis would be cool tho, and about the right level compared to ford.

PG site services have just announce that they wont be continuing as main sponsors of the club next season.

No surprises there we all saw it coming...
What we certainly saw coming was the fact the “The Grifter” and his toxic ownership, fcuks everyone over sooner or later, so it was only a matter of time before he ****ed off what could have turned out to be a very good sponsor.

Puts another nail in the RM ownership coffin.

Think this is a way of further forcing his hand in terms of a sale. That amount of income will not be easy to replace, no one is going to want to have their company associated with SUFC/RM, it makes the need to find a new owner even more pressing.
Given the way PG Site Services have probably been treated, who in their right mind, would ever dream of being linked to the toxic Martin regime, and our poor old laughing stock SUFC ? Most would assume that he has all but destroyed our reputation, and any potential sponsors would understandably fear that he would tarnish their reputation by association too.

Good luck with finding another decent sponsor to bail us out. They’d have to be mad** to want to be a part of Martin’s set up. .. knowing how PG were treated.

Putting aside a couple of slightly odd tweets, I fear we may live to bitterly regret the loss of PG.

(** just an innocent turn of phrase ….. no offence intended. )

Rossi marketing manager was Brian Wheeler. The others wouldn’t be interested - too small

What were your thoughts on the game today?
Since you were kind and generous enough to seek my views on today’s game, I will have to answer in all honesty, that since Toxic “Con” Martin has reduced us to non league , laughing stock, pariah status, I have found it almost impossible to focus at all on any ‘on field’ events. I’m happy when we win, and gutted to lose, but none of those emotions can compare to the overwhelming sense of despair, depression, and frustration that has been inflicted upon us.

When that toxic bast@rd has gone for good, I will perhaps find the motivation to happily answer any more football related questions…… even if intended To be facetious.👍

Going to be difficult.

How were they treated then? In less than two paragraphs you've gone from saying how they were probably treated to knowing how they were treated.

Look, in a previous career, I did a bit of corporate sponsorship for football clubs, Southend and Leyton Orient to be exact (my business had an office in both locations), and this is how it works.

You decide the level of sponsorship you want, you pay the money, and... well, that's it really. You just pay the money. You get no say in what they do with it. I honestly have no idea who PG think they are and why they are so distraught.

And I'm really not sure that Ron still being involved would be a barrier to a new sponsor becoming involved. In fact, we have had far more publicity over the last 2 months than we have had since we dropped out of the EFL and that won't be a bad thing for a sponsor. Whatever happens with Ron, it won't be the sponsors fault.

It is all a bit odd, you would have thought it should be pretty simple - if you give us £x the we’ll put your name on the front of our shirts. It’s difficult to see how we haven’t fulfilled our side of the bargain on that.

Clearly Ron, who is the owner but not the club CEO, has promised them extras - presumably linked to their business and the Fossetts Farm development. I assume he hasn’t carried through with whatever they felt they’d been promised and that’s what the problem is.

With a CEO as a lawyer though (and one of their non-exec directors) one would hope the contract is watertight and they may well be in breach or have agreed to write off sums in exchange for an exit.

All very strange though!
