Maybe we could work out some kind of package deal for the sale of SUFC and the airport - buy one, get one free? That way Ron might get closer to the inflated sums he's hoping for.
Be careful what you dream for. With Ryanair as sponsors you'd have to pay extra to sit next to your friend or family. The kick-off would invariably be late. Anything additional you bring into the ground would be subject to a surcharge. Spare a thought for the poor bloke with the drum and how much extra he'd have to pay! All seats would have belts which would require buckling during the game. Drinks and food would be at an exorbitant price and there probably still wouldn't be onions in the burgers. On the positive side there would be clear instructions as to what to do in the event of Southend United crashing......very useful at the moment.
Wouldn't put it past Ron to sell the airport to an unsuspecting buyer, conveniently forgetting to mention the fact he doesn't own it..Maybe we could work out some kind of package deal for the sale of SUFC and the airport - buy one, get one free? That way Ron might get closer to the inflated sums he's hoping for.
Let me try to clear your confusion….How were they treated then? In less than two paragraphs you've gone from saying how they were probably treated to knowing how they were treated.
Look, in a previous career, I did a bit of corporate sponsorship for football clubs, Southend and Leyton Orient to be exact (my business had an office in both locations), and this is how it works.
You decide the level of sponsorship you want, you pay the money, and... well, that's it really. You just pay the money. You get no say in what they do with it. I honestly have no idea who PG think they are and why they are so distraught.
And I'm really not sure that Ron still being involved would be a barrier to a new sponsor becoming involved. In fact, we have had far more publicity over the last 2 months than we have had since we dropped out of the EFL and that won't be a bad thing for a sponsor. Whatever happens with Ron, it won't be the sponsors fault.
We'll have to agree to disagree then. There was no confusion on my part, and we all know what happens when assumptions are made.Let me try to clear your confusion….
My first line is what I believe to be a very reasonable assumption, based on comments from people well placed to describe the quality of the ”relationship“ between SUFC ( ie “Con Martin”) and the most recent sponsor.
My later line refers to how many potential future sponsors would be likely to view SUFC and anything to do with toxic Ron.
“Look”…….In my business, I dealt with a lot of large corporate sponsorship and marketing scenarios, and if I were the CEO/owner of any large business, I’d be looking at SUFC in recent weeks and wondering where the blame lies for the breakdown. I wouldnt touch us with a barge pole….and we can thank Martin for that.
in Ron we trust eh ??
Good spot. Was it coincidence that the original Twitter post by PG Sites Services was the same day as the latest WUP was issued against SUFC ??
'in Ron Martin we trust' is a usual, tired and predictable thing @rootshall rambler trots out whenever he finds somebody that doesn't agree with him. Yet I doubt he can name (and tag so they have a right of reply) one single individual on here that would gladly put their name against such a statement. We'll have to agree to disagree then. There was no confusion on my part, and we all know what happens when assumptions are made.
I don't understand your last line though. Where I have said I trust Ron Martin?
