Pets

Good news - something close to my heart as we have homed many rescue cats over the years and also volunteer for Cats Protection.

I’ve always liked & toyed with the idea of doing some work for the likes of CP, Battersea, Dogs Trust etc, but I’d end up bringing them all home.

Got a little stray one who knocks about round here. I’ve been feeding him over the last few weeks, and gaining his trust slowly but surely.

Poor bugger is wary as **** and looks like he could do with a good nights sleep & a proper wash & brush up, but he seems like a loving little thing.

Hopefully I’ll be able to give him a second chance.

Quick follow up;

This photo was taken last year, when he was roaming the streets. He was a Bag of bones, severely malnourished, hadn’t been neutered & was ridden with fleas. I don’t think he had much left in him when this was taken.

Fast forward to now and he’s brand new, living in his forever home, with us.

His name is Robbie (don’t ask) and the vet reckons he’s around 2-3 years old.

As you know, Maurice is not the cat he was, lays in the garden with the birds eating around him etc. Anyway, this morning he was sitting on the back door mat looking down the garden when a black and white pussycat looks to muscle his way into our kitchen.

Not going to happen says Maurice followed up with right and then left hooks on this cat's nose and some hideous howling. Exit black and white! Maurice then strutted around the house for the next 10 minutes telling us how brave he was! Life in the old cat yet it seems, but he's gone off for a lay down now, bless.

Will he be defending the East Stand from West Ham interlopers this eve? Sounds quite handy with his paws.

Three cats here in HK. Back in the U.K. currently 7 cats, 3 dogs, 4 horses and 8 chickens. Dug up the pond last year. Fed up with the filters and everything else related just leaking $. Had some Koi and goldfish

May as well say 9 cats in the U.K. We have the mother of 2 from next door plus one son so regular family re-unions.

We have several acres plus stables and ménage etc which might explain some of this!

This is my Dachshund cross Brownie. We adopted him in 2012 from the Humane Society in Oregon - I think he had been treated pretty badly as he was super nervous and his tail had been docked (might have been a good reason for that but I fear the worst). Not sure exactly what breeds he is crossed with (probably a Beagle is involved somewhere) or exactly how old he is (between 10-12), so although he will always be Brownie, his face is getting a little whiter. He really is a great little dog, and he was very happy with his Halloween bowtie.Brownie.jpg

We've just had a guest dwarf hamster for longer than I expected - had been told 5 days, turned out to have been a miscommunication somewhere between hubby and one of his work mates, as we had him for 12 days!

He was called Phil, which didn't bode well, being my ex's name!

Not tame to the hand, and a Roborovski as well, so quick as lightning. Thing was mad as a box of frogs, used to circle at a dizzingly fast pace, and run round and round one of his food bowls or do circuits! Very, very different to our Jimmy, who comes out of his house when you call him, will sit on your hand to eat or be stroked.

Made it all quite difficult to clean the little weirdo out as he has a three floor cage and you could never be sure where he was sleeping, so it just had to make do with a quick wipe, and cleaning the food bowls.

We did manage to get him to take pumpkin seeds from our hands though so made a little progress.

Can anyone recommend a local kennel/dogsitter that will look after a 5 month puppy for one night?
