Just thought you'd like to know, there's a two-page interview with Paul Sturrock in tomorrow's Sunday People.
Thats good to hear,I still think Sturrock is the best man to lead us next season.Article is mostly quite well known facts but certainly a few new things as well so an interesting read.
Perhaps the most relevant being the following that fly's in the face of those that think he will retire at the end of the season on health grounds.
'I'd love to go on as long as Fergie.I'm only 150 odd matches short of clocking up a 1,000 matches as a boss, which is a milestone I am to reach'.
Good luck PS with reaching that 1000 match milestone. I just hope the remaining games you need are with another club.
:zzzzz:
We would have to go a long way to find another manager who could do as well under rather trying circumstances.
We would have to go a long way to find another manager who could do as badly under very average lg2 circumstances.
Crikey, what were you on last night? Sturrock may have not been brilliant, but he's certainly one of the best managers in the division;
last season we were undone by Aldershot's floodlights,
this season it's by a remarkable run of injuries that would have challenged any manager. Southend are 9th in the division, despite the injuries - how can that be seen as doing badly under average circumstances? Surely we'd have to be well below 13th place for that to be true......?

Strong number of people disagree with this.
What makes you think that?
If he stays we now know for certain that he is going to be playing the long ball for all home games. He made that clear in his interview the other day. He stated the change off style at home was a mistake and one I will not make again. So you can look forward to defenders hoofing it at every opportunity next season, if he stays. Prosser must be delighted,
Face it DTS you're in a minority.
Sometimes I think our fans should support Manure & be glory hunters there.
In the first two seasons he did, being 8th in the league and getting 1 point out of 3 home games isnt doing wonders.Sturrock has worked wonders at our club,
& as much as I liked Tilly, he would have got us relegated to the Conference if he had stayed.
Sturrocks contacts have got us the players we have on loan. Tilly didn't have the contacts that Sturrock does & with RM screwing up the finances, he wouldn't have coped!

Nonsense comment. Its because people are passionate about our club and not a big club that they care. If we dont aspire to win games and get promoted whats the point ?

Again nonsense. Tilson got us relegated at a time when the money situation was far far worse than Sturrock has had to deal with. I do think at the end of that season he could have kept us up but to say we would have been relegated again is over the top.
Agreed, Sturrock has much better contacts and certainly got players Tilson did, yet still failed to get us in the play-offs so has has still failed. Saying he did better than Tilson might of is hardly a good defence.
Majority surely.
Most people are pretty disillusioned right now.
