Outdoor smoking

"Nikki Hollis, a nightmare, said: “If you don’t mind, I’m trying to eat a 2,000-calorie meal the size of a Somalian while washing it down with enough Pinot Grigio to float a canoe. These wisps of smoke could kill me.”

:hilarious::hilarious::hilarious:

That line slayed me. Nikki Hollis, a nightmare. Absolutely top drawer

With all due respect, that's just YOUR child. That doesn't mean all children are the same. Kids are exposed to all kinds of things, which parents have little, or no control of.

Lets stick on point though, have you ever taken your kid(s) to a pub & sat in a beer garden? And if so, do you blame this factor, for his intrigue towards cigarettes?

Please read what I posted. I said, "If my child is anything to go by."

Ok. So sticking with the point, would you support the ban on smoking in beer gardens?

Restaurants, school gates, and whatever else was mentioned, doesn't affect me, so I'm not overly fussed either way with those.

I'm very militant when it comes to smoking. Probably something to do with my grandmother smoking in our house when babysitting, and also going into the lounge the morning after my parents had had a party. I've never liked it, and would love for it to be banned outright.

I'm realistic enough, however, to know that won't happen in my lifetime.

Fair enough, you're more than entitled to your opinion. Im very liberal when it comes to smoking, and believe, as a grown adult, smokers should all be able to choose whether they do it or not, it shouldn't be forced upon them.

The only fair solution is that smokers should be considerate & courteous & the anti-smokers, accept that it's our choice to do so, so let us be.

Pub/beer gardens, are absolutely fair game for smokers, and shouldn't even be debated. Restaurants & school gates are fair game for banning smoking. IMHO of course.

If a pub is run as a 'family pub' and their beer garden is meant as a place for parents to sit in whilst their kids run around and play then that pub has every right to ban smoking in it. That's a business decision. In the same way smokers have the right not to frequent that pub.

By the same token, if a pub wants to use its beer garden as somewhere punters can have a smoke whilst enjoying a drink, they should have the right to. Which follows that parents who don't want their kids to be in such an environment has the right to not frequent such a pub with their families.

Quite simple really, surely?
