One Day - Week 1

MrB

Life President
May as well start this now as FC holds no interest for me (till Tuesday!).

Seems my opponent has gone for the mega batting route, amassing 1,700+ runs so far so I'll be hoping his two star bats will be shattered. Also, it appears he's listed his top 10 players all expiring at the same time which is rather bizarre, maybe he won't play any of them?

Anyway, we're up against a sensational top order with a dusty pitch which doesn't help our cause. I'll move Saj to 1st change to get him in earlier but I'll be hoping Suthers or Cook can break through wone of them early doors. Their bowling is strong so it's a full strength batting line up with Ritchie, Sandy & Lamo all returning.

Our largest partnership across two FC innings was 29, I'll be hoping for better tomorrow!

Well my batters have had a nice little break and i made sure Titterton didn't bat today! TBH, i have not even looked at my oppo yet, so am gunna go scouting and see whats best! I might rest Raven, or just play him as a specialist batter. Then will have to have a look on Saturday evening and then decide what team to play on Sunday. Will probably rest the likes of Browne, Raven and Tapp for that.

Got MCC XI who were in my league last year. Their match only lasted 2 days and was played under bizarre circumstances. They skittled their oppo out for 71 in 34 overs, but then they got skittled for even less, 56 runs in total (from 36 overs!). 2nd innings sees their oppo got 187 from 80 overs but then the MCC manage to knock off the 200+ runs in 40 overs and win by 10 wickets!

Im away, on their green pitch and it was sunny both Tues and Wed! Im going to look to bat first. Open with a couple of not so good batters as they do have 2 good quickies who open the bowling for them. Their spin attack is weak and have more medium pacers, which can make them be hard to get away so i would rather set a total than have to chase ...

Raven down to lively so wont be playing tomorrow or Sunday!
Guy, Tapp, Jackman, Akram and Lamb have dropped just 1 level to energetic.

First XI showing:

5 x sublime
2 x energetic
2 x invigorated
1 x lively
1 x fresh

The bottom two are the YP's so I'd expect that. 783 runs has shifted their star bat down to lively so that should give my boys a decent chance of removing him.

Should be a good game, almost a title decider already!

Actually, the MCC XI bowlers look a little short on fitness so hopefully i can capitalise on that tomorrow morning!

8 x sublime
2 x energetic
1 x invigorated
Plummer up to moderate, wonder what that'll be after 3 nets?

Went to change my team orders earlier - 9.55 on the battrick clock and I couldn't do it, I thought you could change your order upto 10 or 10.15.

I'm assuming my YP's will never rise much above fresh with the 3 nets they'll be getting. Along with Cunningham they'll be tucked away at 6, 7 and 8 while they continue training.

Tough game for me today, playing the side that finished 5th last season. We both won 1 of the 2 games.

He had a good win in his FC game, so I could be up against it today. I've picked probably my strongest available line-up, only major PFL worry is Curle, who is at Invigorated but he'll play. Schoeman is at Energetic and everyone else is Sublime. I'm on a PAN.

BATTY SHRIMPERS v Wazzes Wanderers

We can tell you that Wazzes Wanderers won the toss and elected to field. The pitch is looking a bit on the dry side. A fair bit of help for the spinners I think on this sunny day.

DIBS DIPPERS v AFC Wombles

We can tell you that DIBS DIPPERS won the toss and elected to field. The pitch is looking quite cracked! A field day for the seam bowlers I would reckon on this sunny day.

Edit - Mrs BB off to a great start, but I just loved this bit of commentary

Mohammed 1-0-2-2
Rhodes* 0 (0 balls)

0.6 W Mohammed to Kemp
Played all over that - silly boy! I hope he likes breakfast cereals, particularly the 'Cheerio' variety because that's the chant he's now getting from the crowd.

After all that I forgot to set my orders! On the upside they've only selected one of the players who is being sold so it should be a cakewalk anyway!

End of Over 2: 3-1, runrate=1.50
Mushtaq 1-0-1-1
Bullivant* 2 (8 balls)
Surrey 0 (2 balls)

Last Wicket: Brady lbw b. Mushtaq 0 (FOW: 3/1)
