That was the 'official' attendance, when I spoke to dear old Sid Broomfield once about this and the Man City match he said the crowds were much bigger.
It's more packed in that photo than the Liverpool 79 match.

Hi Bob, that picture was taken at H.W. Stone's place on the London Road close to Thames Drive, just after Bill had signed for Chelsea in Sept. '72.

Howard Stone was a one time Director of SUFC.
