Very impressed with the noise from the North on Monday night - nice to hear the away fans outsung for once from our cosy comfy chairs in the east. Suspsect you guys might just of had a part to play for the pen save as well.

Does a smoke bomb generate heat? How does it actually work? If the club want to ban them then fair enough, but I just want some facts so I can slag the paper off further.

YESSSSSSSSSSSSS!

Hopefully it will be confirmed ASAP.

Trade a **** view for a ******* view for good atmosphere 100% of the time. Without a doubt.

Older chaps, as a young whipper snapper I was never priveliged enough to experience the North Bank in it's prime, apart from countless VCR recordings of games etc, how did the noise compare to the old days? I appreciate that on big games it was full so bearing in mind the limited-ish numbers. Compare the noise.

Would be great to have one end of the new ground (which will definitely be built by the way...) named The North Bank.

Colored smoke devices use a formula that consists of an oxidizer (typically potassium chlorate, KClO3), a fuel (generally sugar), a moderant (such as sodium bicarbonate) to keep the reaction from getting too hot, and a powdered organic dye. The burning of this mixture evaporates the dye and forces it out of the device, where it condenses in the atmosphere to form a "smoke" of finely dispersed particles.

Doesn't say how hot it gets, but yes it still generates some heat.

But are they harmful to humans

The atmosphere on Monday was great, especially considering the limited numbers. The reaction to the penalty-save reminded me of how every Southend United goal was celebrated when I was in my teens. Obviously the seats kept a certain amount of restraint (i used to be both delighted and scared when we scored in a big game as there was nothing to keep you in place..you just moved with the celebration and ended up ..anywhere) but the sheer delight at the save and gloating reaction took me back!!
It will need a larger number to reach the crescendo of scoring against Watford, Aston Vila (the media reported the roar could be heard at the end of the pier) and Cardiff City...but Monday was an extremely promising start.
Congrats to all..from a nearly 50 yr old., Great to hear The Hall supporting again.

Not being funny this kid who looks about 14-15 wants to get involved with all the adults, iv seen it for myself in away games he gives its the biggen getting involved it was only a matter of time until he got hurt! they have a family stand for a ****ing reason! maybe this has taught him a lesson and he will stay in w block when north is open again. Him and his family have took it way over the top it was a blue smoke bomb not a ****ing grandee. put a blue smoke bomb on their door step they probs set of an air race siren

All those in favour, please drop Chris P an email at the Echo. Just a short piece saying you want the North back and why.

Were you made to sit down in the North given that supporters of the away team have not been made to sit down in the North Bank since 1981.

I think the North Bank is a done deal for Saturday now that the intellectuals have thrown their weight behind the campaign.
