New SUFC Song

When you're weary
Feeling small
When tears are in your eyes
WE will dry them all

WE'RE on your side
When times get rough
And friends just can't be found
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down..

Sail on SOUTHEND,
Sail on by
OUR time has come to shine
And All OUR dreams are on their way

See how they shine
If you need a friend
WE'RE sailing right behind
Like a bridge over troubled water
WE will ease your mind
Like a bridge over troubled water
WE will ease your mind
Like a bridge over troubled water
WE will ease your miiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiinnnnd

How about that..

Two verses..

The words are meaningful

Fooking pefect

Gets my full backing, unless something better can be found..

I like that

not sure that a song is needed at football, its all a bit girly and a little bit silly but if there is an insistence of music before a game, it should something to strike fear into opponents something like the horst wessel song

Yeah.....know what you mean, I often think that when i watch Celtic or Liverpool breaking in to You will never walk Alone, that is so girly!!!!!!

I think BOTW is too slow and boring. Much prefer the classical piece that was featured in the film "Rollerball".
Really powerful music that's what we want, not some piece you could play at a funeral.

Do you think that You will never Walk Alone is to slow and boring.......

Anthems normally are ones that start off slow and build and in any case the tempo can be changed

I think you have to be very careful not to pick a song that will blow up in our faces if we are not doing well. That BOTW song is a case in point. If we sung that all our dreams are on their way while we are bottom of the league we will look pretty stupid.......and oppoenents fans would have a field day.

I much prefer something less volatile. Most fans who have anthems simply chose a popular song of the time, You'll Never Walk Alone was number 1 in 1963 as Liverpool began their rise, Im Forever Blowing Bubbles was popular when West Ham reached the FA Cup Final, I think in 1923 etc. I am not suggesting we adopt Umbrella, ella, ella by Rhianna but we can perhaps find something that we can all sing. Personally, I think Dont Stop Me Now by Queen would be a tremendous anthem, it really gets everyone going, particularly the part from "Im a rocket ship..........Bloody marvellous!!!!

this would be great

it starts slow, builds to a crescendo and the lyrics are spot on

"the story of the Blues" by the MIghty Wah (got to in number 7 in 1982)

chuck it in google and have a listen , would be fantastic sung around the Hall, away grounds all over the place and the Spread after a glorious victory. it s actually decsribed by most muso-jounalists as a "rousing anthem"....surely thats perfect.

Yes! I was about to make the very same suggestion. A great song. Worth a listen whether adopted or not.
