You just have to make a comparision with Belfield last season,at no point did you ever question is goalkeeping ability or see the back four look as though they didn't know what he's going to do next.

Generally I would agree, but is Smith the man for the big occasion? Look at the Brentford game if you want convincing.

The Brentford game was all about Smith's shot stopping. Wembley will be a totally different kettle of fish. A wide pitch with plenty of crosses I imagine means Smith is not the keeper we need in goal

...i really didn't want to open this up again but this bloke should never play for us again and should be given away to either Borient or Col U. If midgets like Belford or Flavs had not cut that one out then i would have been amazed let alone a giant like Smith.....he will never ever grow some and League 2 needs that!

Would Flavs have come off his line then? :omg:

Have to agree with all of this. Bentley was dropped because of Smith's experience but it did us no good. Great shot stopper but we wont' get out of L2 with Smith in goal. We need a vocal, commanding goalkeeper and Smith will never be that. Bentley for me at Wembley and he needs to play tomorrow too.

Having stoutly defended Smith against your insistent slating throughout the whole season I am finally willing to back down and admit that now is the time to play Bentley. With the season all but over, asides from one trip to London, we may as well start building for the future, and that just isn't Smith. Another soft goal from 4 yards out from goal costing us two valuable points.

Exactly this!!

If Crewe have done their homework, which I'm sure they have. It wouldn't have taken them long to realise that all they have to do is pump our box with crosses.

Bentley has to play at Wembley.

They'll probably also try even weirder tactics like defending stoutly, attempting to win the midfield, and putting shots on target. These April 1st jokes are getting silly.

:hello:

Bentley is a good keeper and will definitely play in higher standard in the future. If brown picks bentley then great and i will respect his choice and support bentley through the good games and the bad games and the same with smudge, so who ever gets the nod good luck.

Both come with their +'s and -'s. Bentley added very little in the 2 games he played and im both "non-plussed" about either of them. Bentley is the one for the future so id probably edge with him but im not bothered who plays as its a pretty zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz topic!

Lol, yeah, thought he had one of his best games for us!

Absolutely this. The guy behind me in the NB insisted he was crap all afternoon stating that he could have saved the penalty and that he was 'massively at fault for the goal', views which to be fair he did air to Smith himself. I wasn't aware the goalkeeper was supposed to stand in front of the near post and mark the runners but there you go. With fans like that who needs enemies?

Good performance today and IMHO a good goalkeeper who has taken an unbelievable amount of flack for not having the personality on the field of a Belford or Flahavan, nor the apparent MILF of young Bentley.

I appreciate you are never wrong, always negative and will never answer a direct question and are personal in your criticism but what did you think of Smith today Wiggy.
