Morrison Bids Rejected

If I remember the good more than the bad you have to accept you remember the bad more than the good.

If we are woeful why are we still well within a shout of the playoffs and not in the bottom 6 ?

I certainly dont think we are doing great, even when we were in the top 3 I thought it was a false position and our performances didnt warrant it.

I like to think I look at things fairly logically and realistically though and sitting 4 points from playoffs with a game in hand I wouldnt class as woeful and worth getting angry about.

I want us to start playing better and with more confidence but I can see in games against Leeds and Orient that starting to happen.

The facts are our recent form over 6 league games isnt bad : WLWDWL and thats with 4 away games and only 2 home matches !

Yes we need to lift our game but Im not going to sit here getting angry just because we lost two of our last seven games.

Two seasons of promotions have spoilt us....

sorry I came across wrong, you as in you,me and everybody remember the good times, I can't recall me always remembering the bad times?????????? I know were **** at the moment if thats what you mean?

Do you not think a form of WLWDWL isnt actually that bad though ?

Indeed performances arent great and we are hardly on fire but we are still in a good position.

Now once March comes and we have to play Walsall, Swansea and Forest at home you might have something really worth being angry about :)

listen results aside which i think are decidley poor considering how fantasticly well we were going to perform at the bginning of the season, we have been playing awfully, results are results Yes I love winning I also enjoy being entertained and there can be many reasons for that, some people like impressive football arsenal style some like the bashem and bully em entertainment, but rolling over and dying in most games this season is not my kind of entertainment, that sall im saying , getting points is totally different from performance and I honestly think we have been shocking this season, Obvioulsy its un pleasing to post anything negative towards our club on here now I take it?? well I shall be making banners and flying over to the white house from now on.....

We are in this position because of a bloke on fire called Leon Clarke, no longer with us. How many points do you honestly think we'd have had with Mssrs Harrold, Macdonald and Revell up front, leave Barney out as he looks good but a bit of an Anderton already?

I think Morrison's have great supermarkets and should defer this offer from Tesco's .

But we did have him and we did gain those points and we are still where we are in the league. He left because he thought he was bigger than us - good attitude, wonder why we did not want to persue him. Yep Tuesday was woeful (by the way I was there so I can comment), but we win on Sat, and we are right in there (with or without Leon Clarke). Again I am not saying that everything is rosey in our garden, but if at the start of the season and someone said top me that come Mid Feb we would be a point off of play offs, with a game in hand, I would have taken that.

We need some realism really people, yes we are struggling for goals up top, but vice a versa I should imagine we have two of the top goal scoring midfielders in the league. Scoring up top needs be addressed and hopefully Barnards 2 in 3 starts will continue (once injuries are sorted), but if people think that goal scorers on our budget are easy to come by, you are all very much mistaken.

The performances are not up to scratch at the moment, apart from Leeds, which proved how we can play, but these players are a little short on confidence at the moment, a couple of wins (which Orient should have been) and we hopefully should be able to compete for a play off place untill the end of the season. The question is are we good enough to go up at the moment, I would say no, is it worth another season in this league to prepare for a longer stay in the Championship - I would say yes.

Up the Blues !!

What I mean by him being a 5 is that he's a slightly different sort of centre half to AB and PC (who have similar styles - associated with the old fashioned number 6) Whereas Morrison is mre like an old fashioned 5 coz of his style of play.

I've made it very confusing, I know(!) :D

A situation similar to Swansea last season, just missed the play-offs and full steam ahead this one with promotion looking very probable.

Exactly my feelings, as I posted yesterday

To be honest I don't think Tilly will be that fussed if we don't go up. I happen to think he is building a very good squad, admittedly we desperately need a Central Defender, that will be good enough to compete in the Championship in 2 years time. If we make the play-offs this season, and then go up, obviously we'll take it. But if we don't, I think we'll be in a far stronger position this time next year.

You are entitled to post what comments you like, as are others that disagree with you....

Leon gave us a huge boost at the time to propel us into the top 3 but he only scored 8 goals or whatever, we have played over 20 games without him and the recent rise in form (WLWDWL ) has nothing to do with him.

Lol, I dont understand that at all.

Surely there is no difference between a centreback who wears the 5 shirt and one that wears the 6.

A centreback is a centreback, whilst some have different styles I dont have any perception that either shirt number refers to any particular type!?

With no Clarke sat,if fear the worst. He is our best defender by a country mile. With Mulgrew looking very shaky at LB,and Barrett having a bit of a mare at the moment, you will have to excuse me if i dont calm down.

If i were a betting man..... We'll be solid on sat with Barrett and Hunt in the centre. I don't doubt Clarkes committment but we all know that his over-eagerness contributes to the shakiness of the back four several times within a game....most weeks.

Bournemouth can score goals so they will provide a threat on sat! (before anyone says about the quality of their attack and how easy it will be foe Hunt coming in)

Spot on. I don't think he'd be too worried at all. He is trying to build a young, hungry and fast squad and get the deadwood out, and it is going to take a while for this process to come full circle and for everything to gel. It's a low-key squad overhaul. They have players in mind for the summer and they've said they're looking to get players in during the loan window who would sign permanently in the summer and are seen as long-term aquisitions if we get them in.

Let's say Col U, Scunny and Blackpool come down, which is entirely possible, and Swansea, leeds and Nottm Forest go up......this league will be there for the taking next season. Sure it'd be great to go up this season, but we would be straight back down. Tilly wouldn't mind having longer to rebuild and going all out for the title next season.

Tilly is building a young squad and has my full backing. The guy has a vision for this club and is a very ambitious person and is definitely not happy at being in L1 in the first place. His strategy changed when we were relegated and he's decided to bring in hungry, ambitious and young players that he believes have the potential to play at a higher level in the future. I think he's going the right way about this and as Ron Martin will stick with him and Tilly is prepared to stick with us for the time being we'll see the results soon enough. patience is the key at this moment in time. We'll be the arsenal of this level and be pushing for promotion, consolidation and success over that in the next 5 years. Tilly is one of the few managers in the football league that can be afforded to have a long term strategy and it's been proven clubs with long term aims and continuity on the managerial front have the most success. E.g Everton, Arsenal, Manchester United.

Swansea's and to a lesser extent Doncaster's success this year has come on the back of a new stadium affording them higher wages and a better product to sell to potential signings. once we have FF we will have the capabilities to do better but at the moment we're at our level and Tilly and the boys are doing just fine.

And having a squad more likely to hold it's own in The Championship :)

Glad there's someone else on here who can take a long-term view !
