Morrison Bids Rejected

Club text forwarded from Cambridge fan...

"Cambridge United have rejected a series of bids for Michael Morrisson from Southend. Board backing Jimmy Quinn in keeping 'our best squad' together."

Heres the link on their official site:

So we are clearly after another CB!!! Presumeably recommended by Ricky Duncan - His contract runs out in the summer so we may get him then.

:)

He's hopeless, can't control, nor score and is useless in the air. If he does sign I will give him one game before I accuse Tilson of making another misjudgement. :p

Well it saves Wiggy a post doesn't it.

Deal might be done in the summer then?! Seems that Tilly still wants him.

We really need a CB now, not the summer as we are leaking badly at the back.

We were not good enough to stay in the championship, and more by luck than skill, we are keeping in touch with the play off places. We really need to consolidate this season and build for a push out of L1 next season.

Yes we are only 4 points from the play offs, but if our defensive ineptitude continues, we could easily find ourselves slipping down towards the relgation area.

So, getting Morrison if for next season would be a good call, but we really need to plug these gaps at the back now, so that Morrison will be coming to a L1 team

am i the only one who thought we were desperate for an experienced centre back. dont get me wrong this lad is very useful but only proven to date in the conference. from what ive seen he is a massive prospect, but the here and now says we need experience both age and playing wise.

Spot on. Another Spinner or (pre leg break) Sodje please.... However I don't think that there any many out there unfortunately.

Hard to get an experienced guy on loan I reckon,

Morrison is only 19 and would certainly provide us cover for the rest of the season and then be one for the future, is more a 5 than a 6 (what we've been after).

I would have no complaints about signing him, having seen him play for Cambridge and England C a couple of times.

i've said it before and will say it again... Paul Reid from Barnsley is transfer-listed

To be honest I've given up hope that we'll get in some cover / improvements for our defence. It's been going on so long that I've given up all hope of Southend actually attempting to resolve the problem

so then clever **** are you honestly happy with the stock we've got at the moment then?? I think we are absloutely appauling at the moment, and honestly are playing no better than how we played under some of our past managers. Absolutely clueless football, can't string passes together, panicking and shacky defence, abysmal up front..........

......of course as you all know I am a wind up merchant and my above post was fishing, my honest opinion is we are doing just fine, I am more than happy to fork out money, take days holiday to watch this unentertaining rubbish week in and week out, I like it jjuuuuuuuuuuuussssst the way it is! remember kids we've got the best midfield in the league....

Would be a great signing. Maybe he thinks he is good enough for the championship though or on too much money. Or maybe Tilly doesnt think we need any defenders...

We're only 13th in the 8 match form guide y'know and we've picked up 7 points from the last possible 15 including games Orient away and home to Leeds.

Definitely could be better but unless you're talking about Webb and Fry in the past managers I think we would take this level of performance every week under people like Wignall, Little and Martin.

lets all hope that Cambridge have a few bad results and fall out of contention...then they may reconsider

I just don't know, I know were we are in the league, but I think we are awful to watch at the moment infact all season the step down in OUR standards is worrying me increasingly

If he is an exciting prospect then surely we cant be the only team sniffing about him?. Any one know of other interest?

Well, this news shows we are obviously attempting to make improvements(!)

Whether we can get the right player(s) in or not though is another matter.
