Michael Jackson Dies

Woke up to the story this morning, had to check to see if it was a spoof or not, finding it very difficult to come to terms with.

It's been well documented on here in the past what I felt about the man in relation to his music, and believe what you like about him as a person, today there are three young children, who have been brought up in his cossetted world that are going to be devastated at his loss today. His brothers and sisters, mother and father as well, all will be mourning his passing.

He was a musical genius and one of the biggest influences on several generations of pop performers. If Elvis was the King, then he's been joined in the afterlife by the Prince. RIP Michael.

I wish everyone would stop making jokes about the late Michael Jackson. He was a nice guy really!!

I remember when I was a youngster and I had to go to hospital and when the hospital found out he was my favourite singer they called him and he actually took the time to come down and visit me.

I was touched.

More breaking news, a paramedic has died from asphyxiation after a plastic nose got lodged in his throat.

I'm a bit young to be as affected by this as some people but his best of album was the first I ever bought and I remember listening to it all the way home in the car the day I bought it and then refusing to get out of the car until I had heard all of it. I didn't believe it at first. Shocked. A great musician. Thriller, I was going to list his greats but there's too many. RIP

I can confirn having just watched the news on t.v. that MJ is also dead in france, can any other exiles also confirm that MJ is also dead in there part of the world.

One hell of a shock when I heard it on the radio this morning. Whatever he did and how mixed up he became in his later life, you can't say that at his peak with the Jackson 5 and his early solo work, he was a legend.

RIP Jacko.

A true legend music wise. I saw him twice at Wembley in the late 80's.

RIP.

As Michael Jackson in 99.9% plastic he will not be cremated he will be melted down into lego bricks so that the kids can still play with him!

Earth Song was awesome, so credit where its due however the rest of his stuff was so so at best and he was a kiddy fiddling nutcase so burn in hell freakoid

Came on here expecting to find a lot of sick jokes and wasnt disappointed!

On a serious note though, the guy was my idol when I was growing up in the 80s and early 90s, me and my 2 best friends had t shirts, psoters, all the albums. He was my generations Elvis in many ways, a musical genius with a fantastic back catalogue, from the Jackson 5 right up to Dangerous album. Revolutionised music, much of what we hear today owes a big debt to Jacko. In 50 years time few people will remember the scandals, just the brilliant music he provided.

As a result of Michael Jackson's death, all the forthcoming London dates have been cancelled. Daniel 12, Peter 6 and Toby 8 are said to be devastated..

One thing we must remember about MJ is yes he was a good singer, but come on, don't forget he was one very very weird mush.

Please don't forget the British soldiers dying around the world in the name of peace. They are far more praiseworthy.

Blimey, that's a random thing to have in common, chadders...!

Billie Jean was #1 when I was born, and Thriller topped the album charts. Grew up loving his music, though I missed his peak (lucky for a child of my age, some might suggest). Ignoring the controversy around Jackson's private life though, the man was an amazingly talented performer and the undoubted 'King of Pop'.

First time I've ever heard about the death of a musician, and thought: "F***".

Agree with that.

Finished work for the day already and I'm keeping the music channels on all day. Sod the news, they're just recycling the same stories/rumours. I want his music.

Whereas I'd say 'Earth Song' was overblown sentimental claptrap and his best stuff was from the Off The Wall/Thriller period. If you don't feel like dancing - or at the very least tapping your feet - when 'Don't Stop Til You Get Enough' is being played you may need to visit a doctor.
