Message to COSU

It’s even been explained on more than one occasion that we had prime targets who had agreed to join us, ready to sign (in one case twice!)? Yes it’s all Kev’s fault…

Social media….whether a player or manager when a target is in the cross hairs the facts aren’t allowed to get in the way are they..

COSU will be even more grateful to Kev as it allows them to quietly and slowly get dressed in the background…

Unless players are signed without consent whether it's first, second or third choice....all managers have to take responsibility at the end of it not just Kev. He can't be exempt.

Kev isn’t exempt from any criticism at all. We’re all aware he didn’t get a few players in due to the embargo but look, surely if he’s such a good coach this is the moment he proves it. Or are we saying he’s only a good coach with good players? Sadly yesterday was awful and Kev has to bear SOME (not all) responsibility as he didn’t change anything tactically and left the subs way too late. As he often does.

Absolutely and as Paul Clark mentioned, when playing against a lone striker, you don't need 3 centre backs, with one having no-one to mark. Switch to back four and put more emphasis further up the pitch. It's not as if Gus and Ralph aren't attack minded and couldn't operate in a tactical on the pitch change like that, leaving Taylor and Golding to take the centre and bring on another attacking option for Gubbins.

but no, Mr Stubborn won't do that and we get tanked. If you pull another major tactical gaff like that at 'Nam next week, it really is time to go Kev.

Exactly this. It’s not all on his shoulders, it has been well documented he has worked in a difficult environment, missed some targets etc but he takes no responsibility for things that are in his direct control. No question over his desire to work hard and do well but can come across as sensitive / grumpy at times with antics on sidelines and overly defensive when questioned on tactics, formations, subs etc. Would love to see him be more upbeat and jovial, it’s infectious and may help the group and keep a better mood in crowd on game day

He already showed he was an unbelievably good coach for all of last year under embargo and now he suddenly isn’t?? Last year he left subs even later as we didn’t have any!! Last year many would have said he was manager of the season..

Kev and COSU jointly have a role to play to get us back on track. Kev needs the required support, and once he gets it he needs to show we are moving back in the right direction.

I feel the only reason i still attend games ATM is to catch up with all my friends for a chat. If it was just to watch the rubbish the team put out, i would not bother. That is something i have never felt before.

Well I won’t be making the 4-5 round trip much more whilst Kev stays in charge, playing his negative ‘let’s try and get a draw’ football. Got better things to do with my time.

As a home game is a 350mile round trip for me obviously I don’t get to as many as I’d like to.

Last season was 7 home games with the rest of the home and away games being watched on NLTV.

This season I started watching all games on DAZN at a tenner a pop, with the absolute dross we’ve been playing I stopped wasting my money on that and since November have been listening to games on BBC Essex but even that’s getting to the point where it’s a waste of 2 hours of my life with the same dreary tactics, poor team selections and baffling substitutions being served up week after week.

Surely there must be one among the 3 amigos who should be coming out and saying this isn’t working we need to change it round instead of thinking don’t worry lads stick with it coz it will work this week.

At this rate it will be a long time before I consider another 350 mile round trip………….mind you I’ve tentatively got my fingers crossed for another Wembley day out 🤞😉🤣

it is very noticeable they're happy to mix in public when winning but days like yesterday, they seem to do a tortoise in winter impresxion.
Indeed. Promises of improved communication seem to have evaporated. Could we have an update on plans for the team on the pitch please, we’ve heard naff all on this front. Are COSU willing to invest in signings this January or not? At least if we know it’ll stop the endless speculation.

I assume Cardwell and Kensdale were among the highest earners, has the budget for wages decreased following their departures, or are we actively looking at appropriate replacements?

Really , in that case why wasn’t he offered a role and if he was why reject it ?
I don’t know for certain but I believe he wasn’t offered a role? My guess is he’s seen as too much of as a ‘loose cannon’, willing to come on here and tell it like it is for example. Unlike the radio silence we’re getting regarding player recruitment/budget right now.

Player recruitment quality certainly seems to have declined since Stan left, it could be a coincidence, but it makes me wonder what’s changed?

I understand your pain. We're not quite so bad (I bring the grandsons up from Sussex), but it's been a very long time since we've seen a win in the games we have been to. I may be an old fool (yes, the wife has just confirmed that) but we're coming up to the Sittingbourne game in a couple of weeks, mainly so the grandsons can go to the North Bank (the PAK was my home in the 1970's). We're hoping that the Blues may actually turn up that day. Does that confirm I'm a fool...?

Kev showed over the last couple of seasons that he was great at motivating a tight knit group of players to perform above expectations in the face of extreme adversity.

Since that motivation has gone and we have a more normal squad size, results and performances have been below average. Yes, I get we weren’t able to sign first choice targets due to the embargo (although I find the suggestions that Ollie Pearce would have sign for us instead of with his old manager at money bags York slightly fanciful), but the current squad should still be performing at a higher level than it is.

Unless results drastically drop off and we end up near the relegation zone, I am still inclined to think Kev deserves a full and unhindered summer transfer window to have a proper go at promotion next season. But his past successes under difficult circumstances, do not necessarily mean he is the right one to take us forwards in normal circumstances.

Please no. Get Adam Barrett in now whilst the play offs are still in sight. At least he will know how to teach them to defend corners! It’s an absolute boring shambles and really needs changing. Braintree are only 6 points behind us and we were lucky to get the points there after the awful substitutions.

I can’t believe people are still willing to give him another summer transfer window.
Surly we need a manger who adapt in games?
Kev isn’t that manager.

Change needs to happen before the summer. In my opinion, the change needs to happen within the next couple of weeks. It’s clear that the COSU aren’t planning on spending much before the summer anyway so now is the chance for a new manager to come in and assess the squad before contract renewals and recruitment begins.

I suspect what COSU aren’t planning on spending is paying off three long term contracts.

It’s certainly not fanciful, he’d agreed terms with the Club.
