Message to COSU

It’s certainly not fanciful, he’d agreed terms with the Club.
As we found out with Omar Mussa, agreeing terms doesn’t always mean signing, and that was without an embargo. How can it be 100% guaranteed that he would have signed and wasn’t just using our interest to drive up York’s offer?

The ridiculous amount of money York are spending is well documented, and far exceeds our budget. How were we going to compete with that?

I commend you for keeping correcting this nonsense. The facts are just inconvenient and don’t fit with the current agenda. So alternative facts will be presented as if true…never mind however the real facts get in the way.. the hope as always is that the purveyors of alternative facts will outlast the puerveyor of inconvenient truths…

People moaning about boring football and suggesting Neil Harris is actually hilarious. The man whose style of football was hated by large parts of the Millwall and Cardiff fan base for being boring and negative.
In the alternative World it would be multiple promotions and goals fests…in the real world after 4 weeks they would be demanding his sacking…

Change needs to happen before the summer. In my opinion, the change needs to happen within the next couple of weeks. It’s clear that the COSU aren’t planning on spending much before the summer anyway so now is the chance for a new manager to come in and assess the squad before contract renewals and recruitment begins.
Agree. We need some players coming in over the next few weeks. Don't wait until summer, do it now

How is what I said nonsense? It is not a ‘fact’ that Ollie Pearce would have signed. He may have agreed terms, but that does not mean he would have signed. See Omar Mussa.

It’s well documented what happened with Mussa. RM wouldn’t have been around to mess about with the Pearce deal.

I’ve been told directly from Pearce’s agent (not Pearce’s dogwalkers sister or anything like that) , as well as my usual sources, that once the embargo was lifted, Pearce would have been the first COSU official signing and been a real statement of our intent.

No guarantee at all that Pearce would’ve been a success. We can go on and on about players who might’ve come in but they didn’t so as a coach, you have to work with what you’ve got. We have no evidence Kev would’ve had us higher up the table with these players. It’s all supposition.

Of course there isn’t any guarantee that any signing would be a success, however I’d feel a lot better with Pearce upfront than Bonne for example.

I’d feel a lot better with a lot of the strikers we would have seen through the door rather than Bonne.

I’d feel better with some of the keepers we wanted rather than the lad yesterday, and potentially even Collin, especially this season Collin.

Of course, we will never know if Kev had a different group of players how he would perform.

Basing what on sorry?

The bit about IF Maher gets it right? If that’s the case, and sorry if it isn’t, I’m just putting a hypothetical situation out there. But, last two seasons we have gone into the final game of the season with a chance of the playoffs, so he does have a track record of knowing what he is doing.

I would be supporting the manager assuming it’s the same situation we find ourselves in with the takeover etc etc. I believe Maher deserves the chance to have an uninterrupted pre-season, a summer with no pay issues, no sagas over a takeover and so forth. I’d believe the same if you was manager. Feels harsh to bin them off.

You say he did well last season, he did the season before as well…

Size and history doesn’t come into things in my opinion. Forest and Villa have won the Champions League, should they be competing for that every year because of this? Leicester won the premier league less than 10 years ago, shouldn’t they be challenging for the title instead of a relegation battle. It’s about the here and now, not history.

I agree that things need to change, and quickly, but I don’t agree that it’s the management.

Finally, you say about a decision maker, but is that a new guy, or another cook to spoil the broth?

I'll be over for our last home game of the season . I'm extremely doubtful that we'll have any chance of reaching the playoffs then.

Its quite astonishing how we've gone from the brink of extinction to lauding our saviours and looking forward to a bright future to being mid table mid season and wanting everyone sacked and doubting COSU.

Quite sad really. Cosu must be thinking wtf, they are seasoned businessmen with a long term goal and plan to ensure sufc's future....

As much as it sucks i think people have to come to terms with the fact that we are going to have to deal with this for a couple of years. If you dont want to attend and support then thats a personal choice.

That said. I am sick of the way we are playing, its crap. But for me its the reluctance to change or try anything else that makes it hard to bear. I can take getting beaten, i cant take the reluctance to make any changes to formation or personel when its obvious to a 7 year old that it wont work.

i still maintain the opinion that kev and co need 10 games into next season before a decision is made, but i implore him to try to be bolder. If we lose 3-2 we lose 3-2 just have a go and dont be so negative all the time. I also feel cosu need to tweak the budget for at least one good signing, preferably a top class midfielder and leader to give us a forward momentum. No more bloody holding midfielders.

I feel a poll coming on,
Would you renew season ticket if
1. No signings in January
2. Kev still manager
3. We fail to make play offs
4.we get relegated.

At least that COSU would know what sort of budget they might be playing with next season

My six year old turned to me and said I think I’ll be having nightmares about this Daddy. Nailed it son.

Tweak the budget- how can there not be budget? We have the smallest squad in the league and people assure us our budget is 7th or so in the division? We need different players added to play the way you and I would like to see- particularly wide and in midfield.

Im saying tweak the rigidity of the budget if the way they are approaching the next few seasons is purely to try and balance the books somewhat.

They came in and saw a manager who was manager of the month a lot, achieved results with this squad. So i assume like all of us this season they thought we were ok in that department and we would crack on leaving them to solely focus on financial goals.

We have signed a few players, but sadly they havent been quite good enough.

A couple of so called 'marquee' signings may be enough for them to quell fan discontent and show signs of intent with regards to progression on the football side.

It’s a shame they’ve gone.. but I would have ******* our seasons income on getting Gateshead’s previous management. The best style of football I’ve seen at this level and certainly would have got them promoted if it weren’t for the local council running their play-off hopes due to stadium regulations.

Attacking football with a team full of technicians and pace. Would tear our current team apart.

Been saying the same. I have a suspicion that Cosu were hoping Kev could get a tune out of a minimal squad so they could keep the budget down.

It may have worked if cardwell and kensdale had stayed, but they didn't and the rest is history.

I think we will see out this season and rebuild for next. I'm just not sure I trust Kev and Co to bring in the quality needed and a style that gets promotion. Nothing I've seen this season gives me any hope of that.

Personally I think COSU have found themselves at a bit of a crossroads far earlier in their tenure than they had hoped. Once the club was purchased I am sure they thought stage one was to clear debt and start to sort out the stadium with a small but manageable amount of budget for the squad. Sensible approach but the issue is that the squad has suffered from chronic underfunding and embargo’s for years meaning that although those who performed admirably last season they are now finding it difficult to dig deep and perform the same miracles hence seeing some of our top performers drop a level such as Miley and Husin.

So what do they do now? The options are few but what is clear is that the crowd are now turning and they need to do something quickly to prevent the place becoming toxic. So stick or twist? If they stick (and I hope they do) then money needs to be found to properly back Kev and give him a fighting chance. Not necessarily to make the play offs but to show what we can do for the remainder of the season. If they twist, well then that budget will no doubt have to be used for paying off of managers and finding a new one.

Difficult times and I am very glad it isn’t my call.
