Message to COSU

Why? Why is it unforgivable?

What about if we finish the season where we are. Maher is given HIS FIRST uninterrupted summer to recruit.

He does it, does a brilliant job, and we win the league or go up through the play offs? Do you forgive him then?

I listened to Undr The Cosh with Mick McCarthy the other day and he said football management is an anagram. One minute you are GOD the next you are DOG. That’s what we are seeing at the moment with the fanbase.

Ultimately, football fans are fickle. If we win, we are the best team and will win the league and when we do everyone is a legend. When we lose, and get relegated or miss out on what we expect, everyone is useless from top to bottom.
And what are you basing that on?

A really good manager gets a tune out of what he has.

We don't score or look like scoring.

A manager rewards good performances but drops KAF and Morton and continually rewards poor performing players.

This is simply not good enough for our football club.

How many shots on target did we have today?

We played Barnet not Barcelona and yet we capitulated.

It's just not good enough.

We have played a formation all season that hasn't yielded results or performance and their is a reluctance to change.

Answer this. If the current manager wasn't Kevin Maher would you be supporting him? Most would say no.

It's pure sentiment to keep Maher. He isn't a good manager.

He did well last season but this season has been abysmal. End of

Managers have been sacked for far less.

As a football club of our size and history, the least we should be aiming for is play offs. We are miles off it..

Things need to change and quickly

Fwiw. I think cosu need a structure ie a decision maker as too many cooks spil the broth

What if? What if? What if? The matter of the fact is we have regressed this season. Yes, football fans have short memories but ultimately it is a results business. It isn’t like we are showing signs of a good side!
We have been shocking all season when it comes to defending corners/set pieces. I appreciate that isn’t all down to the coaching staff but you’d like to think we’d have tightened up in that area by this point.

Personally, I think the squad is top 7 level however, we’ve only looked a good side for around 20% of the season. I understand that we haven’t had a full summer of recruitment so have missed key targets however, the current squad is definitely much better than results/performances suggest.

That is why questions are being asked.

Because COSU are committed to him, and (at the moment) believe he deserves the opportunity to rebuild with an interrupted summer. I'm personally not seeing enough to change my mind on that at the moment.

If we're in this position at this time next season, then that's a different matter, imo, but I think Maher deserves the chance to try to ensure that we're not.

Also struggling to get my head around toxicity and turning on each other.

Were worthy of toxicity. I don't give a monkeys what division it was in. What we were seeing then was way worse than it is now. It was a shambles and an embarrassment. The club was falling apart in front of our eyes and was a laughing stock.

In the context of what has gone on here, and the damage that is still being fixed, shouldn't (yet) be cause for toxicity, imo. Again, should we get sucked right into a relegation battle, and/or be in the position next season, those are different matters. But I'm just not seeing it right now.

Because it was with Championship players.

Put Kev in charge of Millwall and I'm pretty sure what you see would be better than what you're seeing under him here at the moment.

You say it's a results business, but I'm fairly sure you (and if not you, then lots of others) have been complaining that the football isn't entertaining.

If you want entertainment and think Maherball is bad, you'll be even more hacked off with Harrisball.

Not sure why people think he's suddenly what we need.
How can you say it doesn't matter what division we are in, we are in the lowest one we have ever been in. Drop a couple of divisions and be in the play offs would be better?
At some point we have to draw a line in the sand and say no more, we deserve better than this, surely we want to be more successful, this is not where I want us to be, and can't understand why some of you are happy just to accept our current situation.

I`d rather someone else be given the chance. Maher will never get us promoted with his brand of football, whoever you sign. If COSU think that he is the man to deliver, they must do as they gave him an extended contract, then it`s their train set and can do what they want. He gets found out tactically coming up against better teams, it has to be a moveable feast, if your setting up to play a certain way, and it isn`t working, then try something else? It`s as if he is clutching at straws and throwing players on to change a game, but it doesn`t change anything. It seems that he doesn`t know his best 11 week to week. How bad must it get for COSU to re-think their strategy. Maybe they are happy to run a mid table NL club, and that the fans have a club to support. If they keep serving up this dross, numbers will drop off, and sustainability will be further away than they wanted.

29 goals in 26 games. 532 or bust very rarely changes and it’s costing us games, has his favourites. a fan base that is Turing, players underperforming and it’s his job to get the best out off them this season has been disgraceful other than a handful of results the home form isn’t good enough and it’s the same slow **** football. mahers been found out and change is needed all this sentimental crap will keeps us in this league for years
From a cursory reading of many of the posts on this thread, Alan and I would have to disagree.

To what end though?

Surely if your plan is to make a change then its better to do it now than later.

My personal choice would be Harris and Barrett until the end of the season. At least the team would show some endeavour in the final third and have a crack.

Lose away daggers and things will start to get toxic. They were toxic in the west today. Fans are starting to turn on each other..
That’s delusional. Why the hell would the drop to this level just because it’s US. They’d be mad to for the sake of their careers.

To be fair I expected this season to focus on sorting out Ron’s mess and for Kev not to get club relegated this season as the player investment will be low.

Next season will be the promotion push funding, but dear god the football has been rubbish along with the lack of protection footballing side need or deserve

Because he lives in Eastwood. Is a fan and also Barrett is a local lad and legend.

If they were asked in for a conversation, I'd be amazed if they declined

If we're in this position next season, under Maher, in no way would I want him managing us in mid January still - he'll need to be long gone by then.

As for Harris, is this the only other manager out there - seems the suggestion is, we sack Maher and get Harris. Pretty sure there will be other options!!

Basing what on sorry?

The bit about IF Maher gets it right? If that’s the case, and sorry if it isn’t, I’m just putting a hypothetical situation out there. But, last two seasons we have gone into the final game of the season with a chance of the playoffs, so he does have a track record of knowing what he is doing.

I would be supporting the manager assuming it’s the same situation we find ourselves in with the takeover etc etc. I believe Maher deserves the chance to have an uninterrupted pre-season, a summer with no pay issues, no sagas over a takeover and so forth. I’d believe the same if you was manager. Feels harsh to bin them off.

You say he did well last season, he did the season before as well…

Size and history doesn’t come into things in my opinion. Forest and Villa have won the Champions League, should they be competing for that every year because of this? Leicester won the premier league less than 10 years ago, shouldn’t they be challenging for the title instead of a relegation battle. It’s about the here and now, not history.

I agree that things need to change, and quickly, but I don’t agree that it’s the management.

Finally, you say about a decision maker, but is that a new guy, or another cook to spoil the broth?

I’m just putting a scenario out there to see if he really is unforgivable.

Personally, I think the squad needs a revamp, I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, too many are carrying scars from our last couple of seasons. Even players that are performing. EVERYONE was offered new deals for sticking with us, and rightly so, however, we need to move some of those on. Bar Taylor & Ralph, maybe GSM with his goals at a push, no one else has reached the same levels as last season. The players need to look at themselves for me. Too many are letting him down.

I get why questions are being asked, that’s not what I’m asking. If he is sacked tomorrow, and he won’t be, I’d like to think we’d all wish him well like we did with Powell. Be a shame if he was forgiven for it.

Do you think the players are playing for him ?losing 3 nill at home to anyone in this league is a sackable offence don’t see how he can stay

Who was in charge when we beat Barnet 0-3 at their place….

Same guy as today, who has Barnet second behind FGR after today. Good job Barnet didn’t see our 0-3 win as a sackable offence for Brennan.

So what your saying is a manager should be kept on for past seasons?

If that were the case then managers would very rarely get the sack.

Maher is a club legend as a player, arguably as a manager.

What in the current season suggests he is the man to take is forward. We have gone backwards.

I'd love him to succeed but he hasn't.

You mention Leicester City who won the prem. How'd that work out for ranieri?

No, what I’m saying is any manager who had to go through last season, and stuck by us and went over and above the call of duty deserves a proper summer to make it work. Whether that is a club legend like Maher, or Joe Bloggs, that doesn’t matter for me.

He hasn’t succeeded yet. He may never do, we won’t know until the end of his tenure. I’d suggest he has over achieved up until this season, and this season has been a backwards step.

Didn’t work out well for him, you know that, but Leicester are a different club to us.

He hadn't had several years in charge at that point. It's a fine example how we've gone in opposite directions since.
