Exactly..... That's my point, black people seem to be using the word as a term of brotherhood it seems.

Wide generalisation. Plenty of black people would find it deeply offensive if another black person called them a "n". They don't all live in South Central LA or Compton, they're regular folks like you and me. I don't greet my mates by calling them "my honky".

I advise people not to watch Tarrantino films, particularly Django and Jackie Brown :hilarious:

I loved Django Unchained, one of my most favourite films ever. Yes the N word was used probably over 30 times, but it was in context as to how it would be used at that time in that part of America.

I think you need to stick to watching the sound of music and the Wizard of Oz then, if you don't like hearing the word in films.

I'm sure I've heard it plenty of times, along with it variants (in films like The Green Room or American History X) but you need to get your head out of your arse if you think that all black people talk like they're Ice T and they're OK with the N word, even from another black person.

How has a thread about an event predominantly designed for children ended up in white people discussing whether or not it's OK to drop a few N-bombs yet.

This is one of the most White Privilege things I've seen.

Stop moaning, you're the biggest argumentative person on here...... Black people (in certain parts of the world) use the term in the right context as a term of endearment of friendship. If they want to use that term, then it's up to them, who are you to say they're wrong to do so.

Can we please stick to discussion about MTBD and refrain from having a discussion about abusive words. They played a song with an inappropriate word it was a mistake the club have apologised. End of!

You'd seriously start an argument in a phone box on your own, you would.

Right I'm out of this thread, sick of the moaners.....

Excuse me picking holes in your "everyones happy being called a "n....r" bollox theory. When Sir Trevor McDonald or Maya Angelou start using it I may begin to see your viewpoint but I won't hold my breath.

Maybe folk need to heed Ricey's polite post and keep on topic. Deletions are guaranteed to offend!

But have they, we only have the word of a untrustworthy club mole on that point don't we, and a female one at that!!

Ok sorry I couldnt resist :winking:. I'll quickly leave..:runner:

Going back to football, an ex-Blue told me yesterday that we should let Lenny go, as 'his head's gone' - I couldn't disagree.

I always enjoy MTBD and think it is great for families and young children but I have to say I was bored this year as there appeared to be a lack of content during the day or at least long episodes between each event.
It seems a shame most of the training field was not used for stalls etc and I think the club has missed a trick here in being able to put on some more actitivies.
Why don't they invite all their sponsors to have a stall at this event?
That said I thought the crowd numbers were up on previous years

I think OBL was asking for a few ideas to improve MTB, I enjoy an hour or so but think it could be better for little cost and get us closer as a club. I think the main issue is the main pitch isn't always in use and it can seem like nothing is going on.

1. Get some of the legends in the signing tent or to walk the queue.
2. Get some of the local acts that come on the pitch at half time during the season to do a turn.
3. Cheerleaders / local dance troops
4. Mascot race (good opportunity for sponsors)
5. A few player / legends interviews over the PA system
6. Maybe a few more local companies could attend selling food & drink (a bit like a farmers market) - a bit left field but could earn the club a few quid & bring in more new fans?
7. Kids races / games with a legends
8. Local Brewery tent
9. More food stalls
10. More local charities involved / stalls.
11. Face painting
12. Phil Brown tanning tent :winking:
13. Let some southend area local non league sides have a tent / table so they can sell scarfs etc.

Some good and interesting ideas Streaky.

The big problem is that with the new build starting any day then where would the MTBD be held while construction is on going?
