Matt Harrold - time for a comeback ?

Yes indeed,i'll not argue on Mick's statement as the stats are there and cannot be changed.

But as any manager can tell you,you won't win bugger all with stats!

He deserves another chance in my eyes.Putting him in with the kids is a ****ing joke.

His last game for us he was superb. The 'keeper made some great saves from Matt before he was wrongly sent off.Harrold was a real threat the last game he played and showed that he really can cut the mustard. He has Championship experience, aint slow and is better than Revell and should be given another try-out while the games don't matter and the squad is still thin.

Bloody shame he got injured because it would have been interesting to see him play after getting a standing ovation from a disbelieving Roots Hall.If he gets one in the net early and the fans get behind him i think the kid would do well and might be a brilliant foil for Barnard, like he was for Leon.

Take off those blinkers Tilson and grow some bo££ocks and sling him in.We've gotta pay the kid anyway!

Not often we agree, but I do this time.;)

Halleluyah,repeat,repeat!

I don't like the fact that Tilson and Brush are too scared of crowd opinion to throw Matt in if he warrants a game and i've been waiting all this time for Harrold to regain his fitness and prove his worth.

Thing is,i tip my hat to the boy for sticking at it especially in his last game when those few in the West were giving him some serious stick and it makes me feel that if he wants it that badly here then chuck him in the team during friendlies at least.

I don't think they are too scared or else they would have dropped him a long time before they did. They have seen Harrold and realised that for all the great work he does 30 yards from goal if he's afraid to get into the box and get on the end of things then they can't justify playing him.

When Harrold first arrived here, he was an impact sub getting into the box, causing a nuisance of himself and scoring the odd goal along the way. By the time he dropped out of the team against Yeovil he'd stopped even trying to be that player.

If Revell can do what Harrold couldn't and take the abuse that a gangly, un-proflific striker like him will always take, then he'll fill that role.

please, not Harold we cant have him playing he is nowhere near the level of league 1 football

I agree that with our current lack of wide men in the midfield that Foran probably should be given another chance.

But with Matt Harrold. No offence intended to the guy but there are now so many people ahead of him in the pecking order.

Yes, we may be short of numbers, but not up front we're not!!!!!

Barnard. 9 goals in 11 starts and 4 sub apps. Need I say more?

Walker. Young, hungry, fast, tricky. Yes he has stinkers but he also has blinders and keeps things going forward at pace.

Furlong. This guy is full of experience and has the footballer's nose, knows where the goal is and will cause problem after problem.

Revell. He desperately wants to play for the club and showed signs of linking well with Barney in is first little run in the team while injured and needs a run of games when he's fit to show us what he can do.

So where does Harrold it in?

I think he must have something about him to have got this far but personally I havent seen it.

He dosent score and for a big man I find his hold up play always comes backwards. I would not even class him as better than some of the lads I play with on a Wednesday night for fun and I mean that.

I think its best for all if he moves on asap.

We are down to the bare bones and i can't believe that Tilly & Brush are looking at the loan market when they have two fit players still in contract under their noses who they won't give a chance to!!
can't make it out!

2 players that Steve Tilson originally wanted and paid good money for !

What I would say is that in those 43 appearances, he had a hand in a lot more goals than people will give him credit for. He is a very clever players but wont get you anymore than 5/6 a season (not that it has ever stopped players such as Heskey etc)

On evidence so far, Id have Harrold ahead of Revell, who is such a poor footballer I cannot believe we paid £150k for him.

Absolutely right. I think we will also see he has a better first touch than Walker and would be an ideal partner for Barny.

Disagree, Revell hasn't really been given the chance of playing in the right position with a decent partner when fit. I'd like to see him alongside Barney at some early stage to give us a performance on which we can then make an informed judgement, and not keep bunging him out on the wing.

I do have some sympathy with the original sentiment of this topic but the fact is forwards are the one area where we're well catered for & Harrold would be 5th choice, so its all a bit pointless saying throw him back in.

Unless he can be converted into a CB of course..!

Don't know enough about Foran's supposed off-field activities to comment on that, and I know he's not popular on here, but surely freezing out a guy who's played at a reasonable level & was popular at Motherwell seems a bit odd. Its not like we're overflowing with wingers. I'd be more inclined to throw him back in, I've got a feeling he could do ok.

I think he is a better bet than Foran, Revell and possibly Walker - remains to be seen. I think sometimes people think oooh a black guy who can run fast - he must be good - but i'm not convinced.

Thats true, he did do more than he was given credit for, but the fact does remain he didnt win enough in the air for his size, nor did he ever look like scoring.

Revell wins far more headers than Harrold does and for that reason alone Id rather him.
