I think Gower will do well at Swansea if he's a regular starter.
Gower didn't really seem to struggle in the CCC so i see no way why he should struggle this time.

Mark Gower has set up the second goal for Swansea in a 2-0 away at Burnley.

Gower played very well as well.

Mark Gower is one of the most under rated players we have ever had. I am glad he is doing well at Swansea and we seriously miss him!

Think he was pretty well appreciated whilst with us, created that spark of attacking flair and capable of ball carrying when needed.

Problem was that his performances were not consistent enough or had become more erratic in the last year or so before his departure.

Reputed to have come with some baggage - smoking and gambling. Does not necessarily make him a bad person, but may be considered as weaknesses in other quarters.

There were quite a few who just didn't understand Gower and berated him constantly for it. Then again there were many who appreciated him and thought he was one of our best players.

Never knew that!! I still can't get over that footballers smoke, it shocked me the other day when I saw a pic of Berbatov with a fag in his mouth...

You're not the only one, that was a big surprise to me too, can't believe any manager allows it.

Players managed for decades with arguably excessive drinking and the occasional smoke until the introduction of sports science deemed it inappropriate. Smoking effects people differently... There are people out their who have smoked 20/30 a day for most of their adult lives and live to 90 odd, yet others contract cancer with the occasional fag.

As long it doesn't hinder their performances, I personally can't see the problem with players enjoying themselves... But Gower is approaching the end of his career and was already beginning to lose pace with us, so he ought to be careful or he'll end up having to retire earlier than he should.

The ball spun, got through the diamond defence, bounced and bounced and it's in

number 16, ''GET IN THERE'' was the cry from Mark Gower with a big high five to his pal Simon Davies ( Spurs, Everton, Fulham ). About £20 on the nose @ 35/1. Mark pays back Simon straight away the few hundred that he had just borrowed, has another spin in case of a double and then cashes in.
One of my best memories of him which happened at the Rendezvous Casino at the Kursaal a couple of years ago.
I really miss him running down the left, cutting inside on his stronger right foot and blasting the ball beyond the goalie into the corner of the net.
No one has come close since to fiilling that left wing spot in such a dangerous attacking option.

I think, given time though, Stanislas could easily develop into the same type of player. Interesting bit in the paper yesterday about how Rio Ferdinand took him to some African football school he sponsors (I think, anyway, as it was named after him) to help him realise that there are kids with the same talents as him but in less priviledged countries, to help him to commit to developing himself more fully.

Gower was a class act and told me personally the SOLE reason he left the club was the abuse he suffered at the hands of LDN FASTO . I urge all Gower fans to use the power of the rep to show FASTO he is the one not welome at Roots Hall......

Do it now !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My favourite all time southend player along with Eastwood of my time supporting the blues.
Glad he is doing well for the Swans.
Enough Said
