Anyone else think it's a bit bizarre the team going on the train? Only a 3 hour drive and same time on the train with several changes... (Southend Vic - Liv St - Kings X - Newark northgate)

Im pretty certain that they get the coach to London, dont think they do the whole commute to london / underground thing. They then get coached the other end as well and then the same on the return.

I would have thought this will take them longer that just getting the coach to Mansfield...

What is the pub of choice for those who have been before?

Posted this on DoDtS's thread, hopefully it'll be useful to some...

I'll ask my mate who is Mansfield born and bred, a dedicated supporter and let you know what he advises :winking:

Ok, he doesn't live in Mansfield now, but goes back often to visit family, anyway, this is what he's said: "The Sandy Pate bar at the ground will be open. I would go to either the Swan which is in the market square or the Queen Vic which is just past the viaduct on the way to the ground from the market square, though that is more of a home supporters' pub. There's also a Wetherspoons and a few other pubs on the market square but I'd advise avoiding those with the possible exception of the Oak which used to be ok but it's been a while since I've been in."

Hope that helps

I think you are right there.

Just seems pointless esp given how dodgy the east coast main line can be...
And *** Newark is the nearest main line station...your ticket will be better!

I have been to Mansfield before but I can't remember much more than the weather was terrible, there was one of those ugly faceless "retail parks" next door and we were shunted up the side of the pitch. And that's it. I can't even remember the result.

Rain permitting, we should go for

....................BENTLEY..................
WHITE...THOMPSON..PHILLIPS..COKER
...CLIFFORD...LEONARD...TIMLIN.....
....HURST....BARNARD... ATKINSON ..

CORR,EASTWOOD,PROSSER,LAIRD,STRAKER,PAYNE,T.SMITH

I would consider a different XI

Atkinson, Clifford, Leonard, Timlin
Barney, Eastwood

I thought my son and I were the only Southend fans based in Leicestershire, we are based in Hinckley, where are you based? Good location for Midlands and Northern games. Don't get to many home games though!

Hi guys stags fan here just a quick weather update we had rain over night but as I put this it's sunny and there's no rain forecasted till about 2/3 this afternoon the match should be fine. As for the match itself I'm expecting a defeat I think you guys will have way too much for us.

That is very much inline with the BBC weather report. It could be heavy rain during the game and one slip, one silly foul or a rash tackle could be pivotal.

First time to Mansfield, (weather permitting), predicting a comfortable 2-0 win.

Bentley
White,Thompson, Prosser, Coker
Hurst, Leonard, Laird, Atkinson
Barnard, Corr

Subs, Smith, Phillips, Gomis, Timlin, Clifford, Straker, Eastwood

scorers, Barnard, Hurst

att 3000 (500 shrimpers)

My only concern on this team is a rash tackle from CC so either Hursty or if it is a real mud fest with no ball on the ground stuff then Laird in.
