I really do get it that a so called modern striker has to be far more than a bloke who hits the net regularly. Of course the game has changed and data/.stats have also influenced things considerably.
Assessment data on key/good passes, hold up play, , press , to defend well in the final third and to complete significant assists, all add into the picture. Does Bonne really achieve all this ( as well as score )
Apparently stats suggest you score more shooting from inside the box, the stats may account for why goals scored from outside has has virtually halved in the Premiership,
However to be retained you need to be very good at the above if you are not scoring. Kev will have the stats. Personally coming up to 18 games with no goals and few assists doesnt somehow do it for me.
Hardly Tomlin and Assombolanga either is it. Imagine a second striker like Tomlin
Also Do you count the ratio of goals per appearances or rate of goals per attempts? On either account Bonnes record is very poor, missing a number of chances that a striker of his experience really should have put away eyes closed? Theres very few 20 goal a season strikers. of course 10 to 15 might be considered good, A goal every 3 games? or maybe 4 On current form Bonne would be on for just under 3 a season is that what we want from a striker? Surprised if it is
Maybe it could all turn around for him next season with some good fortune etc
