LoanWatch (outbound) 2024-25

At Step 2, Jack Wood joined Nastional League South club Tonbridge Angels in February and made his debut in a 2-2 away draw at Hornchurch on 4th February. He had a chance to open his account and put Tonbridge 3-1 up early in the the second half, but he lifted his shot over the crossbar on an uneven pitch and the Urchins eventually secured a share of the spoils. Four days later he found the back of the net to equalise against promotion candidates Worthing at home, producing a strike of real quality to locate the corner of the net from 18 yards out, although the game eventually ended in a 2-1 defeat. He started again on Tuesday as Tonbridge lost 1-0 at Dorking Wanderers, but was not in the side today as they were defeated by the same scoreline at home to Truro City.

At Step 3, youth team goalkeeper Charlie Brown may wish to forget his first senior appearance for Bowers & Pitsea as they suffered a 6-0 home defeat against Wingate & Finchley to slip to the bottom of the Isthmian League Premier Division table. Brown, who has joined the Len Salmon Stadium outfit on a 28-day loan deal, made a great save in the seventh minute, but was powerless to prevent the rebound from being converted and the hosts eventually went in at half-time 5-0 down. The second half saw an improved showing for the hosts, although Wingate did add a sixth goal in the 50th minute.

At Step 4, Mikey Faulkner is currently with Isthmian League North Division side Basildon United. He has made two appearances, starting the 2-1 home defeat to Redbridge and a 4-1 reverse against Wroxham at The Hive. He hasn't been in the matchday squad for the past four games since being replaced at half-time by former Blues youth-teamer Bobby Unwin in the latter game.

At Step 5, Beau MacDonald has started four games for Hullbridge Sports in the Essex Senior League, and was a 69th minute substitute today as they were beaten 2-1 at Lower Road by Ilford. Jack Stone has made a further three appearances for struggling Stansted, but has yet to add to his debut goal against Saffron Walden Town. He wasn't in the squad for the Airportmen today as they lost 2-0 at Woodford Town.

At Step 6, two Blues youngsters came up against each other last night at Cricklefield Stadium as Obi Okafor's Barkingside beat Joe Poxon's Basildon Town 2-0. Okafor has now played 25 times for 'Side this season, scoring twice, whilst Poxon has six appearances without adding to the couple of goals he netted early in his spell.

Jack Wood started for Tonbridge Angels in National League South as they travelled to Enfield Town. He went off after 76 minutes after taking a whack with Angels trailing 1-0; within two minutes they led 2-1 and the visitors added a third in stoppage time to triumph 3-1.

The bottom two teams in the Isthmian League Premier Division met at Nyewood Lane as Charlie Brown’s Bowers & Pitsea travelled to Bognor Regis Town. Brown made two good saves early on before Bognor took the lead through a penalty two minutes before half-time. Brown was off his line quickly to clear the danger early in second half before making another couple of stops, but Bowers were unable to find an equaliser and they are now five points behind their hosts and 15 adrift of safety.

There was no Mikey Faulkner in Basildon United’s last two fixtures as they suffered a 2-0 home reverse against Concord Rangers before being thumped 5-0 at Maldon & Tiptree yesterday. Gary Hopper was amongst the goals for the Jammers in the Isthmian League North Division.

In the Essex Senior League, Beau MacDonald’s Hullbridge Sports saw their Lower Road encounter against Halstead Town postponed due to a waterlogged pitch yesterday. The same fate befell Jack Stone’s Stansted at Hargreaves Park against Little Oakley.

In the Eastern Counties League Division One South, Obi Okafor started for Barkingside as they travelled to promotion-chasing Hackney Wick, who are currently groundsharing at Witham Town’s Spa Road. ‘Side lost 1-0 to a 50th minute penalty.

Joe Poxon was unable to line-up for Basildon Town as they lost 4-1 to Burnham Ramblers at Gardiners Close on Wednesday evening as he was playing for the U19s away at Woking in the afternoon; their scheduled fixture at home to Enfield Borough yesterday was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

Tonbridge Angels defeated Welling United 2-0 at Longmead Stadium in National League South last night with Jack Wood starting the match and playing 83 minutes before being replaced with his side in control.

Angels boss Lloyd Blackman told the club’s official website: “We felt we could hurt them in the wide areas with ‘Woody’ and ‘Shieldsy’ and, generally, that was our main route to goal. It was a slight change, but the boys adapted very well considering it was a quick turnover from Saturday to Tuesday. We gave them the game plan and they executed it really well.”

At Southchurch Park, Obi Okafor was introduced as a substitute during Barkingside’s 5-1 defeat to Southend Manor in the Eastern Counties Football League Division One South. Manor’s final goal was a sweet strike by former Shrimper Ronnie Blake.

At Step 2, Jack Wood played 83 minutes of Tonbridge Angels' 2-0 National League South defeat away to Hemel Hempstead Town on Saturday. Wood fired narrowly wide early in the second period whilst the scoreline was goalless, but the Tudors had bagged both of their goals before Wood's withdrawal.

It was bottom vs top in the Isthmian League Premier Division (Step 3) at the Len Salmon Stadium as Charlie Brown's Bowers & Pitsea took on Billericay Town. In front of a season's best crowd of 746, Billericay scored twice in each half and missed a penalty to power to a 4-1 victory, with former Shrimpers youngster Max Fiddes netting a consolation on his debut for Bowers.

At Step 5, Beau MacDonald featured for an hour as Hullbridge Sports were defeated 4-1 at Lower Road by Barking. It was goalless in the Essex Senior League encounter at the break, but Sports trailed 1-0 when MacDonald was substituted. Again the consolation was scored by a ex-Blues youngster, with Piers Hatcliff on the scoresheet for the hosts.

Joshua Jackson has joined another Essex Senior League club, Frenford, on a dual-registration basis. He made his sixth appearance of the campaign as a last-minute substitute in a 3-1 triumph away to Romford on Saturday. Jackson has started two games (both 4-0 defeats), and this was the first time he has tasted success with the Redbridge-based outfit.

Elsewhere in the division, George Pulham was a substitute for Stansted in a 1-1 draw away to Sawbridgeworth. Pulham appeared for the final half-an-hour of the match; it has been recorded that he replaced Jack Stone in the same minute as Stone came on as a sub for Aaron Thomas.

In the Southern Counties East Football League Premier Division, Alfie Humphrey made an instant impression with Lordswood after linking up on a dual-registration basis. The first-year defender helped the team keep a clean sheet - their first since September 21st - as they romped to a 4-0 win over Lydd Town, their first victory since 30th November. The result lifted Lordswood to within two points of safety.

At Step 6, Joe Poxon played 90 minutes for Basildon Town as they were beaten 2-1 by May & Baker Eastbrook Community at Parsloes Park in the Eastern Counties League Division One South. Basildon took the lead in the 13th minute but found themselves overhauled during the second half.

On Friday night, Obi Okafor featured for the first 64 minutes as Barkingside suffered a 4-1 home defeat to AS London at Cricklefield. 'Side face the prospect of a potential relegation out of the National League System as they sit a point from safety, having played more games than the teams around them.

On Tuesday evening, Jack Stone was a 79th minute substitute for Stansted against White Ensign in the Essex Senior League. Stone’s introduction came four minutes after the Airportmen went 1-0 down to the visitors at Hargrave Park, but he was unable to help the hosts source a leveller. He enjoyed better fortunes less than 24 hours later as he helped Blues U19s win 3-1 at Slough Town.

In National League South, Jack Wood’s Tonbridge Angels welcomed Torquay United, who had previously taken Wood on loan. He chipped just over after 16 minutes and fired narrowly wide on 70 but couldn’t prevent Torquay claiming a hard-fought 1-0 win at Longmead Stadium.

David Hughes was back from injury for Bowers & Pitsea, meaning Blues goalkeeper Charlie Brown wasn’t included in their matchday squad for a 2-0 defeat at the Crabble against Dover Athletic in the Isthmian League Premier Division.

Defender Alfie Humphrey was cautioned midway through the first half for Lordswood in the Southern Counties East League Premier Division. His side eventually lost 2-1 at Holmesdale as he completed 90 minutes.

Beau MacDonald was back in the starting line-up for Hullbridge Sports as they battled back from a goal behind in the Essex Senior League to earn a 1-1 draw at Stansted, for whom Jack Stone and George Pulham were not involved.

Joshua Jackson was an unused substitute for Frenford as they suffered a 1-0 Senior League defeat at Sawbridgeworth Town.

Finally, in the Eastern Counties League Division One South, Joe Poxon played 90 minutes for Basildon Town as they lost 1-0 at home to Coggeshall Town.

Danny Waldron made his debut for Tamworth at Victoria Road as the visitors inflicted a 3-1 defeat on Dagenham & Redbridge to intensify the Daggers’ relegation concerns. The scoring had been completed by the time Waldron was introduced as a 75th minute substitute.

Jack Wood was back in the starting line-up for Tonbridge Angels as they travelled to Bath City in National League South. Tonbridge didn’t have their first shot until the 78th minute and lost 2-0 at Twerton Park.

In the Essex Senior League, Beau MacDonald was the only Blues player to feature today as he started for Hullbridge Sports in their away fixture against West Essex. It finished goalless.

Also at Step 5, Lordswood started the day hoping to leapfrog visitors Snodland Town to climb out of the Southern Counties East League Premier Division relegation zone. They already trailed 2-0 when Alfie Humphrey was introduced as a 75th minute substitute, and they eventually lost 3-0.

Finally, at Step 6, Joe Poxon scored his third goal of the campaign for Basildon Town to equalise in the 28th minute against Dunmow Town in the Eastern Counties League Division One South. Basildon then edged ahead on the hour before Poxon was withdrawn late on, and Dunmow levelled to secure a 2-2 draw.

A bumper update covering the last fortnight:

Danny Waldron has been used as a substitute for Tamworth in their last two National League fixtures, appearing in the 83rd and 80th minutes of 2-0 wins against Gateshead (away) and Eastleigh (home) respectively. He was on target as a starter in a 4-1 Birmingham Senior Cup success against Solihull Moors:

In National League South, Jack Wood played the full match as Tonbridge Angels defeated Chelmsford City, 2-1, last week. He was on the bench yesterday, introduced in the 52nd minute as Tonbridge trailed 1-0 at Salisbury City. It finished 2-0.

At Step 4, Mikey Faulkner returned to the Basildon United team on 15th March as they travelled to Redbridge in the Isthmian League North Division. The Bees took the lead and, after an equaliser, Faulkner almost set up a second, but Norman Wabo was almost the scorers as Redbridge ended up 5-1 victors. Three days later, Faulkner retained his starting berth in the Essex Thames-Side Trophy as Basildon lost 5-4 to Great Wakering Rovers on penalties following a 1-1 draw.

Last Saturday the Bees hosted Heybridge Swifts. Faulkner started again as Basildon went on level at half-time, receiving a yellow card in the 25th minute. A late penalty and a third in stoppage time saw Swifts triumph 3-1. On Tuesday, Basildon travelled to Grays and Faulkner played the first 66 minutes as his side lost 1-0. Finally, yesterday Faulkner played the first 56 minutes as Basildon made the long trip to Wroxham. The Bees were 1-0 down and had been reduced to ten men when he was withdrawn, eventually losing 3-0 to the Yachtsmen.

Also in the Isthmian League North Division, U19s forward Jack Stone has joined Maldon & Tiptree on a dual-registration basis:

He made his debut yesterday as a 64th minute substitute with the Jammers trailing 1-0 against Waltham Abbey at Capershotts. They ended up drawing 2-2, with former Blues youngster Mo Amir voted man of the match.

Last weekend, Alfie Humphrey played 90 minutes for Lordswood against Tunbridge Wells in the Southern Counties East League Premier Division (Step 5). Lordswood lost 1-0. He was a 90th minute substitute yesterday with the scoring having been completed in a 3-1 defeat at Fisher.

Beau MacDonald played the first 54 minutes last weekend as Hullbridge Sports drew 1-1 at Buckhurst Hill. Former Shrimper Piers Hatcliff got the Hullbridge goal. In midweek, Hatcliff netted twice as Hullbridge defeated Halstead Town 3-2 at Lower Road; MacDonald featured for 88 minutes and kept his starting place as Hullbridge lost 1-0 to Little Oakley yesterday. MacDonald was replaced after an hour.

Also in the Essex Senior League, Joshua Jackson was an 85th minute substitute for Frenford as they lost 3-2 at Athletic Newham last weekend. He wasn’t involved in yesterday’s 3-1 victory at Benfleet.

George Pulham was an unused substitute for Stansted on 18th March as they won 2-0 against Benfleet. Last weekend he was introduced as a 59th minute substitute as the Airportmen lost 1-0 to Halstead Town. In midweek he came on for the final five minutes of a 2-1 success at home to Athletic Newham, whilst he came on for the last eight minutes yesterday as Stansted lost by a single goal to Takeley.

Finally, at Step 6, Joe Poxon was in the starting line-up for Basildon Town as they drew 1-1 at home to St Margaretsbury yesterday in the Eastern Counties League Division One South.

In the National League yesterday, Danny Waldron was introduced as a 59th minute substitute for Tamworth as they sought a route back into their fixture away to Maidenhead United. Waldron won a free-kick, which eventually came to nothing, and the Lambs suffered a 3-1 defeat, despite converting a penalty to initially halve the deficit.

Jack Wood was brought on at half-time for Tonbridge Angels as they trailed 2-0 to Farnborough at Longmead. Wood did go close to reducing the arrears - once Tonbridge had conceded a third - with a curling effort midway through the second half, but the Kent club eventually lost 4-1 (with goalkeeper Matthew Rowley also saving two Farnborough penalties).

At Step 4, Jack Stone's recent impressive form for Blues U19s, and an assist on debut for Maldon & Tiptree, saw him handed his first start for the Jammers. Maldon drew 1-1, with Stone playing almost an hour before being withdrawn:
Mikey Faulkner completed 90 minutes for Basildon United, also in the Isthmian League North Division, but the Bees slipped to a 2-0 home reverse against Waltham Abbey yesterday.

At Step 5, two more Blues youngsters, this time from the U18s squad, have joined Essex Senior League clubs and made their first appearances in senior football yesterday:
Forward Nik Zlatev made his debut as a second half substitute for Hullbridge Sports as they travelled to Sawbrigeworth Town. He was brought on after 67 minutes, just before fellow Shrimpers youngster, Beau MacDonald, as Hullbridge attempted to build on an equaliser by ex-Blues youngster Piers Hatcliff. Unfortunately they lost 2-1.

Defender Ronnie Durussel, who is currently the captain of the U18s squad, completed an impressive 90 minutes on debut for White Ensign as they made the short trip to Benfleet. Ensign went down to a 3-2 defeat, with the winner coming deep into stoppage time, but Durussel gave a few words to the club afterwards:
Fellow first-year, and Durussel's predecessor as U18s skipper, Alfie Humphrey also completed 90 minutes to help Lordswood defeat Glebe 2-1 in the Southern Counties East Football League Premier Division. Humphrey can be seen joining in the celebrations in this picture:
Finally, on Monday, Obi Okafor was a 60th minute substitute for Barkingside as they drew 1-1 with Southend Manor at Oakside. 'Side led 1-0 at the time of Okafor's introduction, but eventually had to be content with a share of the spoils.

In the National League yesterday, Danny Waldron was an unused substitute for Tamworth as they defeated Friday's opponents 4-2 at the Lamb Ground. He had featured for the Lambs in midweek as they progressed to the final of the Birmingham Senior Cup with a penalty shoot-out success over Coventry City. Waldron converted his spot-kick to make it 3-2 after the game had finished 1-1, with goalkeeper Leon Phillips then saving two penalties to send the hosts through.

In National League South, Jack Wood started for Tonbridge Angels as they travelled to Weston-super-Mare. Tonbridge led 1-0 after 82 minutes when the match was paused due to a medical emergency in the crowd. The game was abandoned, and Tonbridge will return to Somerset on Tuesday evening to replay the game, with the person taken to hospital and now being cared for at home.

Jack Stone picked up an injury on Wednesday for the U19s and missed Maldon & Tiptree's 1-1 draw with Walthamstow in the Isthmian League North Division, but Mikey Faulkner was in the Basildon United side that earned an identical result at Witham Town. Faulkner started the match and played the first 74 minutes before being withdrawn.

First-year Alfie Humphrey was an unused substitute for Lordswood on Tuesday evening as they drew 0-0 away to Sutton Athletic, before playing for Blues U19s on Wednesday afternoon. He was back in the starting line-up for Lordswood yesterday, and he scored his first senior goal to put them in front against Kennington on the stroke of half-time. However, they were twice pegged back in the second period with ten men and had to settle for a 2-2 draw.

Two more first-years started on opposing sides at Lower Road as Nikolay Zlatev's Hullbridge Sports hosted Ronnie Durussel's White Ensign. Both completed 90 minutes as Ensign claimed a 1-0 victory. Beau MacDonald also played the whole game for Hullbridge.

Also in the Essex Senior League, George Pulham was a 47th minute substitute with Stansted trailing Saffron Walden Town 2-1. The Airportmen pulled level twelve minutes later but eventually lost 6-2 at Hargrave Park.

Finally, in the Eastern Counties League Division One South, Joe Poxon was in the Basildon Town team as they suffered a 3-1 home defeat to Hoddesdon Town yesterday.
